Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix announced for PS3, features remastered PS2 games

Square Enix has revealed Kingdom Hearts is finally on its way to current-era home consoles. In typical wacky naming fashion for the publisher, the bundle including HD remastered versions of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts - Re:Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days will launch in 2013 under the banner of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix.

No stranger to re-releases, the Kingdom Hearts franchise will further update the PS2 re-release of Chain of Memories – originally a GBA game – to the PS3. Final Mix was a Japanese-exclusive re-release of the first game, which added new content found in the North American version of the game. Though the DS-exclusive 358/2 Days would probably see the most tweaking to get it to land on home consoles, speculation based on a Famitsu report is the PS3 release will only feature remade cutscenes from in the handheld title and not its gameplay.

Additionally, Square Enix revealed a browser-based, online social card game set within the Kingdom Hearts universe, according to the same Famitsu report.

Joystiq has a team in Japan for TGS 2012 – which officially begins tomorrow – and will look to have Square Enix explain exactly what the PS3 bundle includes and whether the company plans to bring it stateside.

So I've been watching this on stream for the past few days and the game looks so damn fun. So b/c of that, I went out and bought the ReMIX yesterday. Can't wait to play it (although it'll probably have to wait until October). I am very excited to play though.

Picked it up on Tuesday and have put some time into it. The game looks and sounds amazing, the HD job is great, although "dumb face" is still around as it was on PS2 during some cutscenes. I already watched all 3 hours of the cutscenes from 358/2 Days and it was awesome because I never saw any of that (crucial) part of the story before so it was nice to be able to watch it as movie almost. The faces were touched up much better for the cutscenes in 358/2 Days and along with the new fully orchestrated music (60+ tracks, spanning all 3 games) some of the scenes really come alive.

Also saw online that a Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Collection is hinted at in the credits. Seeming to include Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth By Sleep, as well as Re: Coded (which I imagine will get the same treatment 358/2 Days got meaning it will be only all cinematics.)

Not actually sure if you get a platinum trophy but I did get 100% on the game.

Definitely wait and watch 358/2 Days after you finished the other two games if you've never played Kingdom Hearts before, as it leads directly into Kingdom Hearts 2.

Yeah I played it awhile ago but I cant even find the game to play on the 3ds, but if its better to watch it then this is a must buy for me.

Yeah 358/2 is such a chore to play. Way too repetitive. Im glad they went this route.

I remember it being like mission, mission, ice cream, the chick doesn't talk, mission, mission, more ice cream, ominous video of Xenmas. Rinse and repeat
