The Mavs ratings look fair as a team.....but come on Dirk is less than two years removed from a NBA Finals MVP and he's a 85 overall while Duncan is a 87 and Joe Johnson is a 85.

          That's absurd IMO.

The guy struggled with a knee issue last year along with a championship hangover (showed up out of shape). But he still finished the year looking just like the Dirk of 2011 Title team. He avg 27 PPG in the playoffs vs OKC without a true 2nd option to help him offensively.

2K has never gave Dirk his respect...He's still a top 10 player in the NBA when he's healthy and in shape which he will be coming into this season based on what I've read about his ofseason workouts going back to his normal regimen.

I'm pretty sure the reason dirks overall is low is because he's pretty much useless on D and its not like he battles for rebounds a lot. If he's an 85 ovr I bet that means his offense is in the 90s rebounding is mid to high 80s and defense is mid to high 70s. Seems like a pretty fair rating of Dirk if you ask me

I would buy into that theory but then when you see a guy like Carmelo Anthony rated in th 90's who doesn't play any defense himself and is not as EFFECIENT as Dirk on offense it kinda exposes the ratings logic by 2K.

Also this has been the case for Dirk throughout his career with 2K's ratings....We are talking about a guy who has twiced led his team to the NBA Finals in the last 6 years. The only other players who have done that in the same time frame is Kobe, LeBron-(Cleveland/Miami), Wade, Pierce and Garnett.

I don't think you could've replaced Dirk with Manu Ginoboli (87) or Deron Williams (90) and still have the Mavs win a title or get to the Finals twice in that same time frame. But every year you see more hyped players or more atheletic players being rated higher than Dirk just because of that plain and simple.

I understand how 2K's defensive, rebounding and speed ratings effects players overall ratings...I mess with the ratings yearly for their b-ball games.

I wouldn't even have a problem with Dirk being a 85 if some of the players like Amare, Joe Johnson, Noah, Deng, Milsap, Jefferson and Stoudamire weren't rated as equal's or close to him in overall ratings.

Dirk is getting a little older now but still the guy demands double and triple teams and can still take over a series by himself. That is a franchise type of player......Joe Johnson has flamed out his entire playoff career and I think 2K is boosting up his overall ratings to make the Nets appear better or project out to be better because their own offseason hype.

Then you look at the list of players rated between 83-87 and there's no way most of those guys should be Dirk's equal regardless of his defense......then i see a guy like Blake Griffith at 86 who has no offensive repetoire in his game outside of highlight film dunks and makes me question the logic.

Defense or no defense a franshise player or elite player shouldn't be rated on a curve with their overall ratings equal to that of a average or just above average players....especially a guy who can put an entire team on his back and take over a game or series.

                  Vince Carter a 79? I don't know about that.

As far as Dirk goes, I think a 87 or 88 would of been perfect.

Melo is highly rated because of his physical attributes too, another thing, along with defense, that Dirk does not possess... most of Joe Johnson, Amare, Blake, etc is physical attributes which make the players ovr better, you going to sit there and act like you wont hit more shots with Dirk than any of those guys because his ovr is lower but shooting attributes superior? cmon man

                      I agree here.....

Which is why I said I don't mind Dirk being a 85 overall...But there is simply not enough distance between him and just above avg to avg players in the NBA based on 2K's ratings.

I sure would like to know why Joe Johnson is rated on a overall rating at the same level of Dirk a franchise player. I see there are few guys who disagree with my opinion and that is cool but they can't honestly believe a franchise player who many people was calling a top 5 player in the NBA after the Finals two years ago all of sudden is rated equally to Joe Johnson or Gerald Wallace types....

That is just a diservice to Dirk not to mention he lit up Pau Gasol like a X-Mas tree in the playoffs 2 years ago and Gasol is still rated higher than Dirk despite vanishing in the playoffs in each of the last two years for the Lakers.

I think some of these overall ratings are being inflated only to increase the overall team ratings for squads like New Jersey and LA Lakers.....no way in hell Nash and Gasol should be rated ahead of Dirk in a overall rating. Neither should D.Will for that matter.
