After reading this thread since release and watching YouTube videos, I broke down and bought it at Best Buy. I was able to get them to match Frys.com, who had it for $49.99 and had $5 in RZ certificate. I'm going to use the saving to buy the DLC. I'm guessing anyone who hasn't bought the game can go to Best Buy and get them to match Frys right now, since they are matching online competitors (incl. Amazon) till December 24th (within reason).

I played through the Attitude Era mode up until about mid-way in the "Brothers of Destruction" storyline.
It is VERY tricky at times to know exactly when a match is No-DQ if you sit don't through the initial announcing for whatever match you're in (aside from the one match as Cactus Jack).
It's as easy as pausing and picking through the menus before actually going back into the match to see but when you have Historical Objectives...
...some of which are hidden until the last minute and require you to search for a weapon and wail on someone within a few seconds...
...it gets annoying.
Then again, you could just play and win matches but what fun would that be?Comment

First match, Val Venus vs. Gangrel (me). Sweet entrances and a pretty back and forth match. Busted Val open on a running bulldog out of the corner. Blood looks fantastic. Val got some momentum going though and ended up hitting his signature and fisherman suplex finishers. Kicked out at two, then I reversed one of Val's grapples and it went into a rollup, Val reversed the rollup to where I was getting pinned. Shocked the hell outta me and I almost lost because of the surprise reversal, but ended up kicking out at the last second. Finished him up with an impaler DDT in the middle of the ring for the win.
So with that said, first match impressions were that the game is fun as shit and it's awesome to be getting flashbacks. I'm about to start the Attitude Mode right now.

Ran a series between Mankind and Booker T (you unlock the Five Time WCW champion by starting a King of the Ring tourney in Exhibition and then winning it).
Started with a simple match in the WCW Monday Nitro arena I DL'd; that went into mixed-tags, Special Referee matches (both of which I was kicked out of by Big Johnny and his poor lip-synching), a few backstage beatdowns, a Fatal-4 way Tables match, a cage match at Wrestlemania, a Hell in a Cell match at Vengeance (I know the PPVs are off but I don't care) and finally...
An "I Quit" match.
...as Cactus Jack.
Booker T showed a lot of heart but you can only take so much punishment before you tap out to Cactus.

Afterward, I took Late-90s Rock to the limit at Wrestlemania with The Rock from Today on Legend difficulty for trophies.
MFer can eye rake and reverse like a son of a bitch but NOBODY kicks out of the Rock Bottom TWICE and gets away with it.
I made that jabroni tap out too and marked out like a kid again.
Better than winning the belt.Comment

This game is bringing back memories man. I'm just into the second match of stone cold vs dude love. I remember everything. It's crazy that when I first started getting into wrestling was around the time when the attitude era started. Great timing

I just picked this up today. I haven't followed the WWE since the "Attitude" era. That was the best time to be a wrestling fan. Storylines were great, matches were well worked (especially the Hardy Boyz v Edge/Christian) and the product wasn't so "PG." I don't really follow anymore, but, this seems to be a fun pick-up and play game that will allow me to create my own universe.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

I can say, with confidence, that if you're not of the ilk that can use your imagination to create fake storylines as an excuse to keep playing this long after you're done with Attitude Era mode...
You might be bored after you're "done" with said mode.
Yeah, it's 60+ matches but you'll burn through them so fast, it's sickening.
I kind of wish they'd go into after Wrestlemania XV for the next game if not DLC but... there's the issue with the Hardys, the Dudleys, Angle, etc. being on Vince's shit list putting a stop to this.
That and Benoit.Comment
