From what I know, Knight wasnt concerned AT ALL with overall rating, but the individual ratings instead. I don't know what that means for the roster set, but apparently they believe that they've got the minors planned out pretty well. Time to get working on my franchise!!!

I saw a list of these (Top 100), and I agree with NAHSTE, the ratings look like shit. I'll have to log onto the game to examine further, but these look no better than some of the other shitty sets that were already available.Comment

it depends on your needs. as long as they are named thats all i care about because i dont sim multiple seasons. i typically just need to call up and send down a select number of good players from the minors.
if you have long term goals to play multiple seasons, then i can see waiting for the super duper tweaked to the max with the right shoe string color OS rosterComment

I'm looking at my RTTS in season 2020 and no team has a player in top 10 that is under 26 (no "Bryce Harper")....maybe they did before but not this year. Only reason I can give having inflated numbers is to keep up with actual players down the line.Comment

Just started my Rays franchise. Can't wait to get deep into this over the next few days.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

The big problem teams were the Braves (the fringy Sean Gilmartin received a 78 OVR, same as veteran starters like PAUL MAHOLM, which we can't have) Mariners (Zunino and Hultzen were way too high) and Cardinals (Michael Wacha an 80, Taveras an 83, GTFO). Interestingly, the Astros are fucked in the opposite direction. Too many of their guys are low, and whoever did that team was apparently asleep at the wheel. Delino DeShields Jr. was given speed in the 60s when most scouts agree he's only one or two notches below Billy Hamilton. I moved him to 92 speed and that got his OVR up to around 69. Singleton and Correa were also way too low, I gave them a little boost. Miguel Sano was an interesting one, but he seemed a touch high to me. I reduced his raw hitting ratings a bit and made him a worse fielder, that got him down to a 69, which I feel is about right for someone with a 2014 ETA, especially considering Sony has a good number of guys with major league jobs in the high 60s.
Essentially I used Profar (78) and Bundy (79) as the top of the spread and compressed everyone else to fit within a 64-76 scale using standard deviations. Dropped Puig from 77 to 73, Soler from 75 to 70ish, etc. Got Taveras down to 77 which seems about right, his secondary skills like speed and arm were way inflated, and his bat ratings were like 30% higher than where Sony has Profar.
If you guys want me to upload the roster to the vault I will, it's not perfect or anything, but it at least has all of the minor league OVR ratings falling within a reasonable distribution range.Comment

Yeah, what these guys don't seem to understand, is that if some of these high minors guys are rated above guys like Paul Maholm, then they would be on rosters instead of the Paul Maholm's of the world, because Paul Maholm's services are exponentially more expensive. It's common sense.
The only players in a roster set like this that should outrate a decent chunk of MLB players, should be guys who are clearly getting called up this year, and are only down at the moment for arbi clock purposes. Even then, they should only be rated higher than lower level starters at their positions or maybe some average guys. Otherwise, you really need to examine how you rated them. an 82 OVR AAA guy would not only be in the majors already, but also probably starting on a lot of teams. I mean, c'mon.
Go crazy with the potential, and maybe one or two individual categories, that's fine. But minor leaguers over 80 should be extremely rare, and anybody over 75 better be very very seasoned and a small percentage.Comment

but even this isn't perfect....at least in RTTS. People want it to be realistic all the way to the color of bats/gloves but once that player is traded or signs elsewhere (in RTTS @ least), that realism is thrown out the window. I had a pitcher throw for the Blue Jays and was originally on the A's, still have a green glove....so there is a point that you just have to remember it's just a game.Comment
