Baldur's gate is more a Strategy RPG that follows D&D 3.5 edition rules. While Diablo is a hack and slash, point and click (roughly) RPG. You need a bit more patience with Baldur's gate because the slightest fuck up strategy wise can turn a victory into a group wipe (everyone dies).
