OK I am going to bitch about the Career mode...
So I am racing against "Pro" drivatar difficulty. This gives me a nice challenge in order for me to enjoy the races vs "AI". There is a fundamental problem I am having with with this difficluty. Most races in career mode are 3-5 laps. When you are racing against Pro difficulty I can usually get within the top 5 of the 16 cars in 3-4 laps...which IMO is pretty damned good. When I race I try my best to actually pass my opponents. The problem with this practice of racing you need more than 3-4 laps to catch the the tops cars. I mean they start you in the back of the pack every race so either you bash your way to the front (which is not an option as I play with damage on) or you will never see gold in time. So what do I do? Turn off damage? Lower the difficulty? In order to race clean and catch the 1st place guy I need more laps.
Also in order to compete you need like the fastest car in the class and type of race you are entered in. Racing in the coupe series is forcing me to buy the Ferrari because my Bimmer or Audi has no chance. I have a Merc but in order to make it fast I lost handling and now the thing is un-driveable....ugh.
The only way I can see fixing this is giving the player the option to choose lap count and the higher the lap count the higher the reward or at the higher difficulties just increase the lap count.
Am i crazy or is anyone else see this as an issue?Comment

I posted this in Forza Forum and got a response...I guess it is a known issue.
I believe others have reported the same experience. To finish in the top 3, you likely need to be multiple seconds faster than the fastest car on the track. That is obviously not a very realistic way to race, but neither is a 3 laps race. That's just how the career mode is set up. As a result, it appears a lot of drivers may be turning off the damage and smashing their way to the front, thus creating drivatars that are unbearable.
I abandoned the career mode a long time ago, and use the Free Play mode instead. You can set more laps, but the grid is set by PI as a default so you're almost always starting in front.
Alternatively, you could hook up with a club or team that hosts races, so that you'll get more clean drivers in longer races.Comment
