So if one of my PSN friends owns NBA Live (a game I don't own) and wants to play me ... they can simply send an invite? Really? Am I reading this wrong?

If this is the case - this may be the greatest fucking game feature ever. I can't imagine how they could game publishers to sign off on something like this.

I'm pretty sure you could only co-op with the person, not play vs.

It mentions it as a "virtual couch". You can play Towerfall which only has local coop.

Sony was blowing up over this when I was at their E3 briefing, they still haven't given me the level of detail I would like before deciding if it is another cool feature or something that is really going to change the way I play games online.

I'm not even sure you're a PSN friend ... but could you imagine if I saw you playing a sports game I didn't own and sent you a message saying "let's get a game in?"

That's the way it appeared to function at the E3 briefing and it was awesome. I just don't know how well streaming a 1080p 60fps image to a remote station factoring in latency and allowances for disparate levels of Internet access make it a scalable capability. The only thing I can figure is that they are coding to a lowest common denominator (sucks for people with good connections) or they are using a variable image quality capability that auto detects your bandwidth and scales accordingly (best but hardest to code).

Exactly. All of the examples they give are co-op so how are you coming to the conclusion that you will be able to play versus?

If you're in front of a PS4 and your friend is, you can share the same game cooperatively or competitively

It just seems as if there has to be a catch on playing competitively. Otherwise it seems like it could be a drag on game sales.
