You can still remote play to your Vita. This allows you to remote play to another TV in the house.

I was in the same boat...I haven't seen this vid yet but I was wondering what it actually did. Why do you need it to link the PS4 to the tv that is right next to it?

You don't. You connect the Vita TV to a different TV somewhere else in your house and then you can remote play the PS4 to that TV instead of the one the PS4 is hooked up to.

Or at someone elses house or a hotel for example. Remote Play can be done through internet

in the IGN article, it says "local wifi", so i dont think it has the ability to what you think it can...

the god damn IGN article says local wifi, dont nub the messenger

Perhaps the biggest allure of the PS Vita TV is its capacity to remotely stream games from a PlayStation 4 on a shared local Wi-Fi network. With remote play, PS Vita TV promises to allow players to extend PS4 gameplay experiences to any room in their house, without having to move the console itself. With just the small, inexpensive box, users will in effect be able to keep playing games in a different room if a roommate wants to take over the TV.

Most people will probably use it over local. Making that statement correct. Nowhere in that statement does it say it can't be done over internet just like the handheld console it is the same as. I will happily show you how its done on the Vita. Vita TV IS a Vita and will do everything a Vita does and more.
