I bought BC2 when everyone bought it too.

Mostly because of hype and I didn't play COD4 online.

The entirety of my career on BC2, I've never officially had the WWII M1 Garand as an unlock/DLC weapon.

The minute I re-DL everything onto my HD, it's sitting there along with newfound "Veteran" status.

Either it's backwards compatibility or my BF1943 stats finally got mixed in with my overall career over the series of games.

I didn't officially start playing PS3 Console Shooters online UNTIL MW2 though.

I had to go back and get a copy of COD4 months after if I remember correctly.

Also, I would think people are more used to/prefer more modern and/or future-era shooters nowadays.

There are some differences, especially with the PC crowd and 1942/Vietnam fans when they came out, but for the most part...
