[ALL] Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

    Assassin's Creed IV
    Black Flag

***This game is not official, but there's rumors and images all over the interwebz today. This game will most likely be officially announced within the next week.

Shortly after, news broke that Ubisoft was holding a "mysterious" Assassin's Creed meeting on February 27th, presumably to show off the next installment in their series, officially titled "Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag."

Earlier today marketing material showed up on Kotaku, solidifying the "pirate" theme. Since then, countless amounts of information have been flooded onto the internet. Today I am bringing you the first rumored image and information known of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. The main characters name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The games location is set in the Caribbean on multiple islands including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.

The current game is running on the Xbox 360, but has plans for next generation console's as well. Finally, Darby McDevitt is the lead script writer, with tie in's from previous Assassin's Creed games.

Ubisoft hasn't announced anything about the next Assassin's Creed just yet, other than the fact that it will star a new character and a new setting, and it will be out next fiscal year.

According to our tipster, this poster will be on store walls on Monday, March 4.

The poster shows a white-hooded assassin—presumably the protagonist of Assassin's Creed IV—on a pirate ship, surrounded by gruff-looking buccaneers. There's a black pirate flag in the background.

Oh great another location with no noteworthy history or landmarks. Going for 2/2 on shitty locations.

I'm really excited about the idea of the pirate setting. However, with the better combat in AC3 came a lot of negative as well. So many things that were great from the Ezio Trilogy that just got dropped, like all of the amazing platforming stuff with discovering the tombs and whatnot. You have to bring that stuff back. Those were some of the best parts from earlier AC games. Also, you had damn well better give us a more interesting main character this time.

I could see them having caves hidden throughout a giant oceanic map that would satisfy the tomb aspect.

yeah, I really liked the hidden passageways and caves you had to find. Hope they bring that type of playing back.

From what I've read, you play as Haytham's father/Connor's grandfather.

I'm not sure I'm too happy about this. For all its flaws, I still really enjoyed 3. The boat parts were good, but far from the highlight of the game. I don't know how I feel about an entire game based on it.

Yesterday, numerous leaks hinted at the game's existence and offered up a few extra details - that the game is set in 1715 and stars a pirate assassin named Edward Kenway, father of Haytham and grandfather of Connor from AC3.

I'm glad I'm not the only other one with this thought. I just find american history and locations boring in terms of an AC game.

I still haven't got through AC3 because I lose interest in it so fast.

Don't think they had any interesting landmarks built at that time, more of a 20th century riser. Better off sticking to Europe, for the history enthusiast fan base anyway.
