Developer Rebellion’s sniper video game series will continue the story of elite OSS sniper Karl Fairburne’s World War II escapades – and judging by the logo, the new game will take place in Africa.
“Sniper Elite V2 was just the beginning of what we want to do with the franchise; there are things we didn’t have time to do before that we can really look at featuring this time," says Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion. “We want to focus on making this latest incarnation of Sniper Elite more of a sandbox game and also build on the awesome X-Ray Kill Cam and the atmospheric World War II setting. We’re looking forward to seeing what Sniper Elite fans and gamers in general make of the latest chapter in the story.”
The title is set to release in 2014 for current and next-gen platforms, as well as PC. Our reviewer generally liked the last iteration of the series.
Game might be good if they can make it open ended, allowing the player to plan how to complete the mission on their own. But if it's just linear like the previous two, not really worth the time.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"
I think I'm going to order this. I think Handle is getting it. Pre-orders come with free DLC, which if it follows the last game will end up being $9.99 and never go on sale. Plus it's $50 MSRP so only $40 for GCU. And I have $35 in gift cards.
I watched some of the PC version this weekend on Twitch and I liked what I saw. I got pretty bored with V2 after a while, but I liked the look of the level settings and gameplay from this one.
I just ordered it from Best Buy. After taxes I only paid a little over $7. The only issue is that for some reason I had to stick with shipping because no stores within 50 miles have it available for store pick up. The game comes out tomorrow and hardly anyone has it? I don't think I've ever seen that before.
It says expected delivery "07/01-07/03" but I'm not holding my breath because my last few shipped games took forever.
