Guitar Hero: Van Halen?

I'm listening to the latest CAGcast and they mentioned how apparently there is a SKU in Gamecrazy's system for a Guitar Hero: Van Halen games with a release date of 08/31.

Thoughts?

I'm always up for more GH/RB content.

I would pass on this until the price dropped like GH Aerosmith. Not a big VH fan, although from a difficulty standpoint it would certainly keep me busy. I agree with KTP it's nowhere near as bad as the Beatles. I'd rather gouge my eyeballs out with toothpicks than play that Beatles game.

But I am starting to get a bit worried with how much Activision is milking Guitar Hero. If it's gonna be 3-4 releases a year, plus DS versions, that's overkill. Look at just this year: Guitar Hero Metallica, Guitar Hero Greatest Hits, Van Halen, probably the next "major" installment in the main series. Ridiculous.

They're coming out with a GH:Greates t Hits too? I wasn't aware of that. I'm guessing it would be pointless for me since I own all of the other games.

Yeah, no joke. Hot for Teacher on World Tour kills me. It's like my Raining Blood for that game.

If I was going to design further GH games, I'd ditch the single band idea completely...

Instead, go with a "History of..." series. GH: History of Metal, GH: History of Rock, and so on. Start at it's roots and trace it to where the genre is today. I would be alot more inclined to buy that type of game than this single band stuff. Although I will be buying Metallica on day 1...but they have been my favorite band since I started listening to music.

I heard on the Giant Bombcast that the game will actually be called Guitar Hero: Headlining Van Halen. They were speculating that the reason they were doing this is because Activision doesn't plan on using ANY of teh actual character models and technically your created characters will be performing all the songs. But who knows.
