I just watched the Qore interview with the developers. They said they changed the perspective because in first person you character was getting injured and killed too often due to all of the flying debris from the destructible environments. It definitely makes sense to me. I like the new view.

There's a demo up on XBL. Not sure about PSN.

Wow, this game seems really fun. The demo on ly lets you play one mission but it definitely seems to be what Mercs 2 strived to be in the first place. The amount of destruction is unreal.

I was just listening to the 1Up podcast from 05/15 and they were raining down praise on this game. They said the single and MULTIPLAYER are fucking amazing. It's a definite purchase now.

I have a friend that works for THQ and helped make the game, so I promised him I'd play the demo and check it out. Never been into other shooter games besides SOCOM, I'll try to talk to him tonight and get some more input on it
