will this work on the PS3?

i have a wired set on headphones with a microphone. It has the standard headphone jack and mic jack. I want to buy this product

If I were to guess I would say it would work and that the PS3 would just detect it as a wired headset...but what the fuck do I know?

I wouldn't hold your breath on that, it doesn't seem promising.

If its any help, I used to wear headphones back in my competitive Halo 2 days, and I had it setup like this although I had no volume control on the headphones.

I bought all these parts at radio shack for under 10 dollars iirc:

I don't know if you are running through HDMI though, but you can still set the PS3 to output audio through rca cables and video through hdmi



edit: #3 is a female to female headphone jack.

I can look up all these parts on radio shack if you decide you want to do it that way, but there are better options such as seeing if your tv has a headphone output (or surround sound system)

i appriciate the info beer.....i used to have a similar setup like that too.
this thing with the headset isnt for online gaming its for recording chants and cheers in mlb the show.
if i can use it online then its a bonus.

if this doesnt work then i will just make my daughter open her birthday gift a bit sooner.....she has the high school musical 3 sing it game.....it comes with a logitec usb mic.

btw, anyone wanna play coop with me on that game ?

Well, what more can you ask for? I mean, I got it for $5 shipped. The next best price I could find is about $20. I know the microphone quality is not perfect. There are little static. It's small so I don't really care. All I use this for is to chat on PS3 using my regular headset. As long as the people on the other side can understand me, and I can understand them, I am happy.

According to this review it works.
