I said it in the chat box that the QTE stuff isn't very appealing. It makes the combat too easy and stale for my tastes.

Since it's a Crytek joint, you know it'll look good though.

The whole simon says button thing was cool for a couple seconds. But after the 5th time in that demo, I was done with it. Game looks great though.

Love games set in this period as I love the Roman era of history (and Rome: Total War remains one of my favorite games) so I'm sure to enjoy this, especially it being a Crytek game.

Love the theme. Use of testudo and the pila had me thinking back to Total War too. Was not impressed to see all the quick time events in combat though.

I like the setting, but that combat did nothing for me, personally. I am really, really tired of anything QTE related.

There's also the new Rome: Total War coming out this fall as well, provided it's still on track. And it is, and I'm definitely excited to read about it. 117 factions, it's going to be huge, even though you will have to pay or wait for some of the factions to be released.

I figured that was the case, and I am guessing that Kotaku is overreacting. I just thought the article was kind of funny, considering I already hate QTE quite a bit.

I too would hope that's just the demo, if not, what a waste of a title. I can't tolerate a game when I know it's playing itself and I'm just a passenger.

Yeah that is retarded...I have never played a game with QTE when I fail to respond I still win. It usually ends in me having to start the whole fight over as I get my head lopped off.

Things aren't looking too hot for Ryse, the Roman Empire action game and Xbox One exclusive slated for later this year.

We have this concept we call mashing to mastery. The idea is that anyone can play it and they can mash the buttons and fight, but if you get the right timing you're able to actually master it. Master the reaction you get out of the AI. You worked on the AI, you get them to this executable state and you execute them and we're like: 'Why does it have to stop there?' 'Why do I have to stop and watch this movie play out?' Because we've all played games that have executions and like 30 minutes into them you're like 'Really, I smash this guys head, then I stab then I kick him.' So we're like, well, let's continue the flow, let's make it open up a window and let's give guys who want to spend time learning it more of a reward bonus.
