[PS3] The "suggest me a game to buy" thread

I didn't search through the entire arcade forum nor did I search through the random thoughts/good deals thread. Forgive me if something like this has been posted.

I'm looking for some new, cheap(ish) games to play.

I have some downtime now that madden is wrapping up and I have beaten all my current games.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Do you prefer any consoles to another (or PC)? Want to give a quick list of what you've beaten recently, both as a barometer and to avoid repeats?

I thought I put [PS3] as a prefix. Guess not lol.

      Games I've beaten:

      Infamous 1 (will buy 2)
      LOU
      R&C Collection
      Borderlands 2

I'm also open to older sports titles that may be really fun to play.

You may have, this computer I work on is dogshit and uses like, original IE explorer, so it leads to some confusion on my part some times.

Have you played the PS3 specific (i.e. not HD remake) Ratchet games? Tools of Destruction and A Crack in Time are both fantastic, and Quest For Booty is pretty good for a super short, download only.

If you like a challenge, I'd definitely recommend Demon's Souls or Dark Souls...but you have to commit to them, to be sure.

I personally like the R&C PS2 games better than the Jak ones, but the Jak trilogy is still great if you haven't played it yet.

If you're an old school RPG fan, Ni No Kuni was pretty good for the first 10 or so hours I played of it before life got in the way.

That's all I have for now. There are plenty of great downloadables too, to be sure, most with trials or demos, so you should give some of them a shot too (Hotline Miami, Sound Shapes and Guacamelee come to mind).

The PS3 specifics for the ratchet games will definitely be a buy. I liked the remake ones and only got them because it was like $20 for 3 games.

I will look into Ni No Kuni to see what it's about too.

Thanks for the suggestions so far tho!

Please tell me you have PS+? If not, sign up now and get access to a shit ton of games in the Instant Game Collection, including Saints Row 3 and Battlefield 3, two of the best games of this generation.

In all seriousness, if you own a PS3, especially if that is all you own, and aren't a PS+ subscriber, you should probably jump on top of a wrought iron fence, testicles first. ;)

                  Talk about harsh lol.

I'll jump on that shit tonight though. Love me some free games.

Seconded this recommendation, same thing happened to me where I played it near non stop, however I went on vacation in the middle of playing it, and couldn't get back into it.

As mentioned before, PS+ has a decent selection of games every month (or week depending on the sale) and the option of spending less than $20 for 3 months or less than $60 for a year is too good to pass up.

Given the climate of digital gaming taking over for physical media, the added option of being able to download and RE-download whatever games you've gotten through PS+ can save you a lot of hard drive space.

Also, Cloud Saving (I think you get a Gig and some change as long as you stay on PS+ or re-up every once in a while) gives you that much more space too.
Now if you want to stick to straight media? Anything $20/$30 that involves a Collection is good stuff IMO.

Since you beat the Ratchet set, the Jak and Daxter Collection fits in that same vein (not having the Jak X Cart racer or the Daxter Vita game is a bummer... might be another for Vita as well but it didn't get great reviews) and is more up-rezzed platforming greatness.

Also, The Sly Cooper Collection as well as the new Thieves in Time title (it was discounted at release and is probably cheaper still now) are a great set of titles if you dig collecting widgets and sneaking around through a fun story.

Fallout 3: GOTY Edition and the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition come with the vanilla games and the DLC intact so that's 100+ action-RPG goodness right there.

                          Batman: Arkham Asylum
and Batman: Arkham City (get the GOTY Editions so you get the DLC sets, including Harley Quinn's Revenge which is tits) are this generation's defining hero games at the moment.

...but if you're a Marvel dude, you can't go wrong with the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games; local/on-line co-op, all the fan favorites like Spider-Man and Wolverine, all the nerdiness that you expect in a comic book game (the first game moreso with gobs of trivia; the second game narrows it's focus on the Secret War and Civil War storylines).

I'd add more but this isn't my thread.

And if you need a second (3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th...) opinion, check out this article from GamesRadar:

                              http://www.gamesradar.com/30-games-p...-lull-less-30/

30 games for $30 or less.

Can't beat Singularity or Saints Row: The Third.
