    [PC] My Buddies Haswell Build

My friend Nelson (goatodb) is looking to get into PC gaming. He was totally put off by building it himself so I said I would do it for him. It is a simple process.

    Here is the build
    • CPU - Intel Core i5-4670K
    • RAM - G.Skill 1600 DDR3
    • GRAFX - Gigabyte GTX 760
    • MB - MSI Z87 - Gaming Board
    • PSU - Corsair TX750A
    • HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1 TB
    • Case - Corsair Carbide 200R

~$880 he also has some rebates.

All the parts came in yesterday except the grafx card. He ordered that separate and will be coming next week.

It took about 45 mins to build it and another 45 mins to install Windows, Motherboard Drivers, Steam and Fraps. I am letting him take care of everything else software wise. I was pretty cautious with the build as it was not mine and I tried my best to do some cable management but since the case has no window it doesnt matter too much as long as air flow is not being blocked. I enjoy the process of building these for fun. This PC should last him a good long time. All he would need to do at some point is sell the GTX 760 and upgrade the graphics card which is a plug and play operation.

He wants to play through the Bio Shock Series, some of the popular indie games, and then Saints Row 4 and Battlefield 4.

Here are some pics...enjoy your PC Pron.

HDD, DVD, and PSU Installed. Literally took 5 mins. IMO all freaking PSU should be Modular. Too many extra cables.

Let me add that the Corsair case is awesome...just so easy to run cables and all you need is a Phillips head. I will never buy a different Brand of case.

Is it very sturdy? I like the amount of ventilation for the case, but I'd worry that it might make it overly delicate to handle. Dust looks like it might be a problem too.

Yeah its sturdy metal case. I dont think I would use it as a travel machine. Should be just fine as a desktop that doesn't move much. Dust...yeah might be a problem.

Man, I am lost in the woods with a lot of this. Every time it comes to new PC time I like to think that I have the intelligence/patience to learn this stuff...and every time I get exhausted and quit in like 10 minutes.

Great thread though. I genuinely enjoy watching people smarter than me construct these PC behemoths. It's amazing.
