        EDGE cover:

The new issue of Edge magazine features world exclusive details of Insomniac’s colourful Xbox One shooter Sunset Overdrive.

We visited Insomniac HQ in Burbank, California to be the first media in the world to play Sunset Overdrive as the studio explained how it intends to put the fun back into shooters – the game brings to mind Tony Hawk, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Prince Of Persia and the blue skies and bright colours of the Dreamcast era.

The cover story features world exclusive screenshots, art and details on how the game plays, how Insomniac is working with Microsoft to develop for Xbox One and more – we conducted interviews with Insomniac CEO Ted Price, co-creative directors Drew Murray and Marcus Smith, level designer Cameron Christian, character artist Gavin Goulden, art director Grant Hollis, and programmer and gunsmith Doug Sheahan to gain real in-depth insight into how the game is being developed.

The new issue is available in print, on iPad, Google Play and Zinio from Thursday May 8.

See Sunset Overdrive's Frenzied Gameplay In Action

Sunset Overdrive’s bright, busy world looks great in action, and you can check out gameplay yourself in this video discussing our hands-on time with the game. Traversal, Insomniac’s wacky weapons, and demented mutants are all on display in this chat between Kyle Hilliard and I.

Check out the video below for a chat with Kyle Hilliard and myself as we discuss how Sunset Overdrive plays, the arsenal of crazy weapons, and more.

Wow, this game looks a ton like inFamous. I love inFamous so that is a great thing. This game is officially on my radar. it looks like it could be fun as hell.

This game just looks like pure fun. Can't wait to see more of it during E3.

Yup. This game has waaaaaaay too many similarities, but I love it. I'm a little surprised that Insomniac hasn't at least acknowledged that Sucker Punch's series was a huge influence on their game. Especially considering Insomniac was formerly a Sony developer.

Has there been any news on a release date? I'm guessing it's still a ways off?

The player model does look stupid as fuck but the game still looks like a blast.
My only issue is having to be creative to keep combos going. I'm always terrible with that shit.
