I want to hit at least 50 members first with open membership but if the game looks like it could go tits up on Day One... I might go invite-only then and there.

The BAWSAQ portion of the stock exchange pertains to what the gamer does while playing (while also being connected to Social Club).

Every dime you drop into Ammu-nation rises the stock on the BAWSAQ which in-turn can be bought as a stock by yourself and others also playing GTA V.

Assuming you can also buy stuff from that store on GTA Online, it can only go up from there if you invest at the right time.

kinda right. the LCN is single player only and the BAWSAWQ is based on GTAO. you can only affect the LCN individually. reddit and GTAForums are currently trying to see if buying stock in the BAWSAQ in SP has a manipulation effect. i believe it doesnt, and only GTAO will affect it, but there is a large contingent out there that does believe it.

In short:

LCN is different for each user.
BAWSAQ is global.

SP LCN: You affect it with gameplay. Unaffected by GTAO.
SP BAWSAQ: You dont affect it with gameplay or buy/sells. DO benefit from gains/losses from GTAO.

GTAO LCN: Not really sure at this point, probably just reacts to SP gameplay.
GTAO BAWSAQ: Can be manipulated by mass buys/sells. Might be affected by Global gameplay (ie. Ammunation stock should rise with ammo purchases around the world.)

Character customization is interesting. Grandparent set 1 gives you a tweaker white guy. Grandparent set 7 gives you a fat white guy
