I hope you guys realize that they didn't show 4 new perks. Just 3. The "4th" perk was larger then the other perks. It was obviously just a down arrow showing a doorway or possibly escalator.Comment

Does anyone else think that dropping Call of Duty from the title is a HORRIBLE marketing idea on IW's part? Now I know hardcore guys like us will know the games' lineage but most other consumers don't have a clue. They won't know that MW2 is a sequel to CoD4. I understand that IW wants to distance themselves from Treyarch but this move is retarded.Comment

It doesn't really matter. MW2 will be the biggest selling game EVER. Doesn't matter what the fuck they call it.
Consumers will know what MW2 is, don't be so silly.Comment

Seeing as they're selling to an already installed base, it doesn't matter if they put "Puppies and Ponies: Land of Gay Sex" on the box. Although, it would be probably end up being the largest online ordered game in video game history, and plenty of copies would sit on shelves.Comment

Trust me, a name is a HUGE deal in gaming. Leaving the Call of Duty brand is a horrible idea. They have a huge install base because of the Call of Duty name. But I wish IW the best of luck.Last edited by Twigg4075; 04-06-2009, 11:16 PM.Comment

Don't be so sure. I'm not the only one thinking the same thing. All of the major gaming podcasts are saying the same thing. Hell, one guy was talking about how when he use to work at Gamestop some dude came in one day looking for Cod 4, pronounced just how it's typed, like the fish. He kept asking until finally the guy said "Oh, you mean Call of Duty 4?" and the guy says "Yeah, I guess that's it."

It's not like people are going to be so lost that they don't know what to buy, unless you yanks really are as handicapped as I think you are.Comment

That's just it. Most consumers are borderline retarded. Please refer to my Cod 4 quote. I think they will be ok but ultimately I think it's just going to make Activision's marketing more difficult. I know that the in the first official press release they made sure to say "Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to the #1 selling Call of Duty 4."Comment

Once again, they are selling to an already installed gamer base. The same people who bought COD4.
Everyone I know who plays COD4 already knows about MW2. They don't give a shit about what it's called. What they care about is the game and how it'll play.
The name won't matter to those who already know the series. They already know what the game is about.
The new fan won't know about COD4, so it's completely stupid to argue that the name change would confuse them.
The only confusion that would happen is with the people who already own the first installment of the series. Even then, those people already know it's being called MW2Comment
