Why are these going for $350 and up on Amazon when Best Buy still has pre-orders available for $219.99? I put down a pre-order there just in case I decide I need mobile Zelda goodness over the holidays and beyond.

Nintendo and Amazon had a bit of a falling out. From what I understand, neither side explicitly said why, but speculation is that it's over the earlier DS. It had some jacked up hinges, which caused them to break. Nintendo would force sellers to cover the cost of the replacement, while Amazon sort of bit back saying that it was their faulty design that caused the issue, so they should cover it. Since then, it's been hit or miss whether Amazon will even offer their products, outside of games. Most of the stuff you'll find (like the 3DS in question) on there will be form third party sellers.

From what I understand, things are getting better. Amazon actually sells some of the basic colored 3DS' now, just none of the XLs.

Good deal, thanks for the background. Now that you mention it, I am pretty sure that all of the sellers on Amazon were 3rd party and maybe only one of them qualified for Prime.

So I can get the Special Edition 3DS for $140 at bestbuy with the $199 walmart ad price match n Best Buy Bucks combo...

but then I wont be able to make the Special Med Edition 3DS XL...

Unless I flip the Zelda one on eBay...hmmmnnn

So uh... this is probably the best game i've played in a while.

You gotta hand it to Nintendo, they took an old game, made the sequel we all wanted and definitely made a darkhorse for game of the year.

It's kind of crazy just HOW much it's like A Link to the Past. But I'm loving it. I am driving co-workers crazy today whistling the music, too.

I had let my pre-order go but I think I am going to the store to get one later today or tomorrow. Kicking myself for not taking advantage of the $199.96 price at Walmart over the weekend.

Finished this gem on Friday, and man, what a wonderful blend of nostalgia for one of my favorite games ever, and an injection of some new, non-handholdy elements. Loved every second of it, and hope that this is a sign that Nintendo is getting back to what made Zelda great. I've been thinking about what my personal top 10 would be for what has been a very, very tough year to parse that out, and this is definitely at or near the top.
