[ALL] I have no interest in next gen consoles =-( ...Help !

So Ive spent a bunch on recent phone upgrades (Note 3 + G.Gear) and the last games Ive played I didnt bother finishing (Halo 4 , Portal 2 , GOW Judgement , Battlefield 3) So my motivation to drop 4-500$ on a new console is minimal.
    IMO
    1. Current gen graphics are wack. They just feel extremely dated at this point.

    2. I refuse to use XBOX as my media portal because of the 720p limits they impose on everyones video but there own.

So can I ask you guys is there ANY game (shooter or not) that actually is impressive visually on next gen consoles ? I keep hearing that XB1 games are 720p and using PS4 visuals for commercials or YT videos.

Has it been asked at all about the video quality limitation ?

Any killer apps or features these consoles are bringing ?

If this thread is useless and theres some awesome comparison or FAQ chart please point me in that direction.
    Thanks.

Nope. Its a next gen console with 4k looming. 720P is a joke even for this current gen. My TV , phone and tablet are 1080P other than my phone I can spot a drop in resolution a mile away.

If you're holding out for 4K gaming you're going to be waiting a long while...

If you are only interested in graphics, then PC is the answer.

Im not opposed to it. Only thing holding me back is the old notions I have about pc gaming that may or may not be true still. That and Im sure eventually people I know will want me to play online with them. The only franchise I have attachment to is Gears of War and Epic wont make another one as good as the OT so Im a free agent whore.

Im not "only" interested in graphics but the fact a next gen console cant do 1080P on launch games is beyond ludicrous to me. Since I see no compelling new genres or games , and Im still under the impression Netflix/YT/Amazon videos will be 720p the interface is useless to me.
All Im left with is "at least those re hashed games will look redunkulous"......but it appears they wont =-/

I would wait then...no harm in that.

if you want something to blow you away then get a PC with a AMD 290 or GTX 770/780. If you want even higher resolution get one of those Korean 1440p monitors and a AMD 290.

I have a mild set up with a GTX 760 hooked up to my 1080p Vizio TV via HDMI. Battlefield 4 runs mostly at 50-60 FPS in MP with settings on Ultra. With my surround sound pumped up and lights dimmed that shit is intense. I am not a shooter guy and even I am impressed with the immersion, graphics, and sound.

As far as finding friends online to play with on the PC...I cant help you much there.

Oh and a 4K setup. Well a samsung 4K tv will run around 4K including tax. You will need to SLI 2 780s at least and thats about a $1000.

So for a proper 4K setup you will need $4000 for TV, ~$1800 for PC...$5800.

This dude will give you a quick overview on a 4K gaming setup.

But keep in mind new graphics cards have dropped since this video was made a few weeks ago.

Linus is probably right though...doesn't make much sense to jump into 4K gaming right now. Costs far outweigh the benefits.

Agreed. Gaming PC is the way to go for him I think, or at least wait out another year and see what new IPs are worth getting, or going to be coming out soon. As of right now, with COD, Battlefield and Assassin's Creed all out for current gen too, you can get by until next summer and see what happens.

The only issue I have with PC gaming is that most of my friends aren't primarily PC gamers, but console gamers, so most of my time is spent there. I play SWTOR still, some RTS games, but I don't have the group to play with consistently on PC.

i have no interest in next gen consoles either. not because i have a gaming PC but because games just are not worth a dam anymore. the number of great games to play has declined over this past gen and i refuse to keep sinking money into retreads that are nothing more than a madden like roster update.

sequels are great if they are like a far cry 3 or GTA5...games that feel nothing like the predecessor. Sadly, these games are few and far between

Just do what Im doing, wait until something you actually want to play comes out. A bunch of people looking to get launch consoles only to play shit thats already out on this gen systems. These games will be ports with upgraded graphics.

I don't think you can say thats true. EA Sports games are using a new engine. 2k is looking like quite the upgrade from current gen. COD never changes their shit so its true in that case. I think most of these games have the next gen versions as their definitive versions of the game. Their true vision if you will. Me personally tho has nothing to do with those games. I'm only getting 2 games that are on current gen(BF4 and 2k). BF4 has double the players of multiplayer and is the closest a console is getting to PC. My other 2 games are the reason I'm getting them on day one. Knack and Killzone. With inFamous coming Q1 and Destiny a few months after that. There will be plenty to play
