Calif. man killed over PlayStation console, suspect arrested

SAN FRANCISCO – Authorities in San Francisco say they have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting and robbery of a man who advertised a Playstation 4 gaming console for sale online.

Ikenna Uwakah, 22, was shot in his vehicle when he arrived at a meeting place with his girlfriend to make the sale. The girlfriend was not injured and the console was taken, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday on the street in the city's Bayview district.

The woman reportedly drove the victim for about a mile and called authorities from Bayshore Boulevard. Uwakah was then taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died.

Police Sgt. Danielle Newman says the suspect, 21-year-old Ronnie Collins of San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted robbery.

The paper reports the police did not disclose the Web site on which Uwakah had advertised the gaming console but said it was not Craigslist.

A woman was arrested today for stabbing to death three shoppers at a Chicago-area Wal-Mart in order to secure the store's last X-Box One.

Mary Robbins, a married mother of two, reportedly wrestled her competitors to the ground before fatally wounding them with a sharpened Phillips head screwdriver.

The victim's names have not yet been released, but are said to include a sociology student at Northwestern University, a chemistry teacher at at local high school and a young pregnant woman buying a system for her brother.

I have sold several high dollar electronic items over Craigslist but I also am extremely cautious just because of stories like the one above. I have had people meet me in a crowded coffee shop or even in the lobby of a bank. If they want to meet in some parking lot somewhere, I size them up via a phone call first and decide if that is an option. There is almost always a loaded 45 that is cocked and locked on my person just in case. Unfortunately the victim was too trusting of his fellow man.
