Why is SCEA being so quiet in regard to The Show this year?

Right now what we know about MLB 14 The Show is that Miguel Cabrera will be on the cover, quick counts will be an option, and this year's save files will be able to carry over into next year's game. However, we usually at least have a release date by now, and then the developer blogs start to roll in highlighting the new features. We haven't heard much of anything in detail, which is troubling when you consider that MLB 07 The Show didn't release until May of 2007.

What do you think is going on? Is SCEA simply holding information for longer this year or is something serious happening to the game just six weeks from its usual release time?

Well if you remember the first PS3 version of the Show was pretty poor upgrade. The graphics were crap and the game seemed to be a ported over ps2 version. I am afraid that the PS4 version may be a ported over version of the PS3 game.

The graphics shouldn't be a question at this point. We have screenshots showing improved graphics. It's that we haven't heard ANYTHING since the cover vote, screenshots, and articles about save carry over and quick counts. The gap between PS3 and PS4 is much larger than the gap between PS2 and PS3, and SCEA has had the programmer version for a few years now. They shouldn't have a problem making another great game.

I think going from 480(SD) to 720p/1080p (HD) is a bigger jump then going from 720p/1080p (HD) to 720p/1080p (HD) as far as graphics and presentation. I lean on the side of caution when a company is not willing to show their game till launch. Or maybe they are just waiting for the NFL to end.

Yea, I think the PS2 -> PS3 was a far bigger gap than what we're currently dealing with.

I'm not worried on the overall quality of the game. The only thing that concerns me is the ability of carrying over saves to the next year edition but we won't know that for another year. I am going to wait for reviews and maybe 2wks before deciding PS3/4 version.

Edit: Looking at my thread last year, they are only a week late from when they released CES gameplay footage. We didn't know the cover athlete till January...we know that and release date. I'm sure they'll say how they reworked trade/FA signing logic.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with save files this year, they will function the same way they did on PS3 so we don't need to know anything about that. The only reason it was announced before this year's game I think is so people won't rush to get as many years through their career/franchise as possible and actually spend time playing the game.

This is one game and company combo that you really should not be worried about.

It is a fair question. I'm ready to get my excitement meter filled to full.

I'm with Pete though. Outside of online play this game is normally a homerun

Cant wait to see what this looks like on next-gen, one game that we know won't disappoint (except online.)

I have a feeling they are letting the football talk die out before they let news go about this. Even if we have to wait though, I'm OK with that. Make sure they get it right.

I'll purchase it simply because it's next gen. I didn't buy last year because they couldn't figure out online and I'll likely go the same route for '15 if the same occurs. If online doesn't work, I can simply update the rosters and not much changes, much like most sports games.

that's my point....as a whole I'm not worried but when this year cycle of playing the game comes near to an end, the shit might hit the fan. If people invest more time than before because they can take it with them but it backfires, how much shit will SCEA face on the forums? I've played RTTS the past 3 years (before that just Play Now); 8yrs into '11, 7yrs into '12, and 5yrs into '13 (so far). If this feature works, I plan on making my next RTTS play out his whole career in 2-3 games. People are right to doubt the online play but I stick with RTTS.

                          My 3 RTTS:

MLB 13 THE SHOW - Guy Cullen RF/OF

MLB 12 THE SHOW - Omar Lockwood 3B/1B

MLB 11 THE SHOW - Billy Jean 2B/SS

I'm hoping online improves so I can get into a league and do diamond dynasty but if not franchise and rtts will be excellent.

ryne candy yeah I'll probably play 2-3 years in rtts in 14 and then move it to 15 instead of playing 5-6 years.
