Sports Game of the Year?

Yes. By a landslide.

It's the most fun I've had with a sports game since Madden '03. And it's the best representation of a sport of any game I've ever played. Most of the little nuances that make baseball a great sport are included in The Show. Only the problems with online play prevent it from being sports game of the decade.

Does this game fall in with the 09 titles from the year 2008?

I'd assume it competes with the titles released in calendar year 2009....(even tho the game version is 09)

Regardless, I think it does, but not by much over NHL and FIFA really isn't far behind (it's just lacking in offline modes IMO)

Only NBA2k9 gives it a run for it's money imo.

NBA2k9 is as solid a basketball game as the show is a baseball game.

I think the only thing ha might affect The Show from being sports game of the year is that it doesnt have consistent online play and is only for PS. I think it will come down to NHL 09, NBA 2k9, and The show.

NHL 09 is personally my favorite game of the year. Love the game. I have a feeling that if you put a poll up on this site that NHL would win

well after 2 smooth innings and a 4-0 lead over krul, I lagged to hell until the 8th (while krul didn't seem to have it so bad :drive threw about 55 balls cause it was so choppy (and I was scared of hanging one in the zone vs the yanks power) and then blew the game on my own accord in the 9th.

because of this, MLB lost any chance of getting my vote. :chomp:

I think it falls in with last year's games. Either way the only game I feel gives it a run for its money is NHL 09. As much as I love the Show I have to believe EA took things to the next level with NHL 09. While SCEA just polished up an already near perfect game. It could go either way for me.

My vote has to go to NHL 09. I haven't stopped playing that game since the day it came out, and I'm the same guy that usually can't play a game for more than a month or two without getting bored of it.

+ The Show's shitty online ruins it for me.

NBA 2k9 took a huge step back from previous iterations IMO. It was simply not fun at all this year.

Same as last year really (except I threw FIFA 08 into the conversation last year as well). It's between NBA 2k9 and MLB The Show 09 (no FIFA this year, even if it's even better than last years). Gotta go with MLB though, pretty easy decision for me...now for those that just own a 360, it'll prob be NBA 2k9.
