There is plenty of hype/excitement for The Show over at OS. I think it's just this place.

I think the excitement at OS has been less than in years past. It's just harder to notice because of the sheer size of their community. SCEA really isn't doing themselves any favors by coming out with online franchise and having online basically be non-functional the past few years. Nothing kills excitement for a league like servers not working well enough for owners to play their games.

We have more league activity here now than VSN did in its "heyday" back around 2009. Not as many chise guys but most of them left after one of the half dozen or so mergers and the site being unstable and them losing all of their work because backups of the site weren't made.

The games simply aren't worth getting excited about. The year-to-year improvements are so small, if you flipped NBA2k12 in you'd swear you couldn't tell the difference. Is MLB The Show 14 really worth $60 over The Show 13?

I don't blame the game developers, they simply don't have the time to build sports games like GTA5.

I will get The Show for my ps4 because I am kinda jonesing for something new to play, but not dropped $60 for the PS3 version and that tiny controller I have now grown to hate since the ps4 was released.

This might be true for young teens (maybe) and moms, who were told by the kid to pick up the game @ Walmart. However, most guys on this site and gaming sites know of CAG and other sites that tell gamers about deals. Nowadays, there is no need to even spend $60 on a sports game day one...at least here in the states. I know you're up north but even MLB The Show could be had for $48 at TRU. Now if you value the pre order bonus (stubs) that much that you are willing to spend the extra $ that means you are also a fan that is excited for the release of the newest version.

I'm well aware. But this thread was specifically about sports games and how it seems that excitement has dwindled for them. I agree that there seems to be far less excitement here but other places seem to still get pretty excited about the new sports releases, ie OS.
