That seems like a lot for a cop. I know it's based off where you live right?

The cops and state troopers here in West Texas make like 35-40 k. I make more than that.

Even if I was only making 40k, I'd still rather be in a situation where I'm more likely to have a book or something thrown at me than a bullet headed my way.

Not to derail the thread but I am glad that Maryland stepped up and put actual police officers into their schools. I am amazed at how the same parents that (rightfully) proclaim that our children are our most precious resource but then turn around and trust their safety to the goodwill of their fellow man. Newsflash, some of those fellow men are mentally unstable wackos that would kill every single child in the school for whatever reason if they had the opportunity. We as a society should demand that trained police officers, not security guards that have no weapons or disaster training, be present as a first line of defense to make sure our children are safe. Domestic and foreign terrorists love soft targets. Why would we allow the place where our children spend almost all of their time away from home fall under that category?

Some girl in CT got stabbed after saying no to a guy asking her to prom. Where was the cop there? (pretty sure cop in school there)

Our department has had SROs (School Resource Officers) since I believe '98 or' 99. I was one back in 2001 for only one year. I only had about five years om the job at the time and it was way too boring for me (although September 11th was an interesting day to say the least) so I went back to patrol after the school year.
I believe SROs started in California in the early afternoon 90's. NASRO (National Association of SROs) is based out there and I'm attending a conference in Palm Springs in July.
But yeah, I'm sure the features will come. PS4 is still missing features they promised.

Yup. One of the main benefits. M-F. 7a-3p. Holidays off. I can take off when there are closings for snow, etc.
