[ALL] Would Nintendo do better going muli-plat.

If Nintendo swallowed their pride and decided to just develop games with their IPs and got out of developing shitty hardware do you think they would do as well?

MarioKart or Zelda on a Sony console would be might sweet.

They could make more money this way but thousands of people would lose jobs and the Nintendo name is synonymous with gaming.

It'll be a dark day in gaming when Nintendo steps away from manufacturing consoles. Also they are doing retarded good with handheld consoles. Vita can't touch them and Game Gear burned alive trying.

nintendo has always been a childrens system. the only time they really ruled the console market was back on the NES. when the super nes came out it competed with the genesis. the N64 went up against the ps1/ps2 and xbox. wii was 3rd to 360/ps3

they design games and systems that are for kids. we all grew up with them and then we grew up. im sure they would see huge sales going multi, but they really dont have to do that.

At some point if Nintendo doesn't change they will go the way of the dodo. And that is a shame.

That shitty hardware outsold Genesis , ps3 , and xbox 360 in N.A. They've always controlled the handheld market as well.

The biggest threat is smartphones and tablets. Partnering with Amazon or Apple could bring them right back into the forefront of mobile gaming and open up an easy route to the living room without a dedicated separate console.

That said Nintendo could buy some time by giving Sony or MS some killer titles.
Best reason to have a license.

You realize that Nintendo has over $15 billion dollars sitting in their cash reserves? None of us will live to see Nintendo go the way of the dodo unless they get away from their status quo and I don't see that happening anytime soon. They will continue to dominate the handlheld industry and be moderately successful in the console market for the foreseeable future, at least in my opinion.

Yeah, maybe they should stick to handhelds then? I do think it would be interesting if Nintendo quit the console game and just published their games on Sony, MS and PC.

But on the flip side Nintendo is so stuck in the past and such curmudgeons when it comes to their IPs and really everything they do. I could see them being an absolute nightmare to deal with. I also think they are gearing up to put out their next REAL next gen console a lot sooner than people expect. As in the two years.
