[ALL] Do you check stuff on the PSN/Xbox Dashboard anymore?

I remember through out the PS3 and 360 cycle the first thing I would do would be to check my friends list and see what people are playing. I would check the store for new downloadable games and just generally cruise around the dashboard for a few moments before deciding what to play.

With the PS4 and 360 I have almost completely seized this behavior all together. Especially with X1...I never check achievements or friends list. It is pretty easy to never check the store because no interesting games ever come out.

I will tend to check my friends list a bit more on PS4 due to the fact it is much quicker to come up. Although the other night I had an issue where my friends list completely disappeared and did not show up until next day.

Anyway...are other people doing this less? Did you ever do it in the first place? Do you just fire up the game you want to play and go. That's my practice now.

Maybe its the fact that I am just getting old .

I don't on the XB1 just b/c it's a pain to have to open, navigate and then close all those apps. The only time I go into my friends list is on Forza nights.

However, I still do it all the time on my PS4. First thing I'll do when booting up the console is go to my friends list and see what everyone is playing, then some times I'll go to my trophy list and update it or go to the PSN store and check out what's been added.

I cannot find movie trailers for the life of me on the 360.

I have never checked achievements or trophies, I do not care about those at all. The gamercard you ask? Its so people know what I have played.

Sometimes I'll check who is online but only on PS, Xbox its too much work. I like to see who is playing The Show and what the score is or how they're doing in RTTS. Otherwise, I don't really care.

On the PS3 I'll check and see what games come with PSPlus monthly. Nothing else outside of that.

On PS4 I pretty much do all of the above frequently except for achievements. I don't care nor have I ever cared about achievements. Never understand the motivation behind them.

My PS3 has pretty much become a Netflix/streaming only machine over the past few months, and I only check the PSN Store through the website.

Replay value is a big motivation for some people. People get a big sense of accomplishment from getting certain trophies/achievements too. I'm much more fond of the trophy system compared to the gamerscore system personally.

Do you not check it on XB1 for the same reason as Swarley?

I always go straight to play my game. I just look at the deals online. Saves me the hassle of the slow PSN store on PS3.

Yes, MS took what was the best interface out of all of the gaming consoles on the 360 and completely over thought how to improve it on the Xbox One and mess it all up

Yup, I'm the same way. I still check my friends on PS4 and will at least check the store once a week to see the PS+ freebies and sales. I don't do any of that one XBOne because I know there aren't any sales and definitely no freebies. Like Swarley said, it's such a pain to check to see what your friends on doing there I don't even bother. Not to mention I usually only turn my X1 on to watch tv anyway.

I'm still waiting to play PvZ Chrisguz!

As for JMS mentioning his friends list on PS4 not loading, I had the same issue the other night. So annoying. Handle said it started with the 1.70 update.

No one wants to play games with you anyway you jerk!

While playing Bf4 the other night a bunch of us were actually reminiscing how fun it was playing Bf3 with you.

Right? The PS4 store is lightning fast. The PS3 one? Not so much. It takes almost as long to load as my 360 does to start up.

I usually check to see who's online right after turning the PS4/XB1. I'll get on BF4 if I see a bunch of people playing on the same map. If not, I'll hop on 2K or The Show. During loading screens is another time where I frequently check to see who's online.

No one here likes to play games with each other anymore though. I miss the old RB6/COD days.
