Edit: a result you can clearly see visually.
You'll see it during each consoles prime when they actually have really good games to play and developers are able to push the envelope on the console. Each console has next to no video games to play right now, and the majority of them will be a forgotten memory in 1-2 years from now. Just wait young grasshoppa.

Aso along with Atlas already said why people have a problem with it. It's a spineless move on their part, along with that Xbox fanboys originally were all behind the kinect saying shit like it was revolutionary and had limitless possibilities and they were glad it's being mandatory because it forces developers to utilize it. Now that MS are conceding people like yourself and piratetime are like great move on their part, flexibility ftw. Let's eat up and agree with whatever MS does without forming our own opinions..

This is similar to PSN fanboys shitalking the cost of XBL and then rationalizing it into a positive once PSN started to charge yearly.

You bleed green man. We get it, you're a Xbox fanboy. Don't try to act like something you aren't.
This move by MS doesn't affect me tho.

      1. I already purchased an XB1 w/ kinect.
      2. I don't use the kinect with games as a function of the game. So if this move halted any future kinect games, it sucks for the people that do use it like that but I wouldn't have seen the bitter end of it.

The only reason I thought this was good news was because a lot the community asked for it. People were saying if they made this move, they'd purchase one because they weren't being forced to buy a kinect. Bringing in new customers to me is good news. That's in my situation tho. Enough with the hypocrisy and calling me a fanboy. Who ain't one in this thread. The panties in this thread were all bunched together well before mine, doesn't give you an excuse to bomb every XB1 thread.

I agree with most of this post, but I would hardly call it "spineless". It's lowering the price and removing something that many people aren't interested in (developers too). It is most definitely a good thing for gaming. Sure it is a bit of a bummer to those that got the Juan in spite of the Kinect, and sure they're forced now to de-emphasize its importance, but at the end of the day it was the right business decision for them to make, it's best for the consumer, and the fact that they're not dragging their feet is a testament to Spencer's refocused emphasis on it as a gaming console.

Would Microsoft have enough balls to do this?

Follow me here, I have an Xbox one and I really don't need the Kinect so let's just say I want to sell my Kinect on eBay. I'm sure many people want to do the same thing and with the new consoles coming out that do not have that item, would Microsoft make it incompatible with the new system in order to prevent people from selling them? My point is, Microsoft will be providing these new Kinects in the fall but people could sell old ones which will cut into the sale of the new ones. Does that make sense to you guys?

I never said it was a great move on their part. In fact, I've continually bashed them for changing policies since day one.

PT is right.... I remember him saying back when Nelson moonwalked away from DRM that it was a mistake and there was nothing really different about the consoles now.

...except, you know, the more powerful hardware.
