2K Sports Invading the NFL Gaming Market?... What Comes Next?

Lots of rumors and speculation going around the last few days about 2K Sports making a return to the NFL gaming market. Our friend SimFballCritic has pointed this out as he spied jobs openings from the 2K team posted on a recruiting website.

If we hear a yes or no it will most likely be at E3 this year but the game most likely won't release until 2016 cycle (next years sports gaming cycle). Any hope of a release this year has to depend on recycling the APF 2K8 or Backbreaker engines to be able to come out on time... Neither of those would lead to any sort of innovation.

Is it true?!? Could a comeback be on the horizon?!? What's the next step in decifering all of this new information?

We might be... But one of the few guys in the 2K community I believe on the football side is Sim.

If they are posting up jobs online then that's closer than we have seen thus far. I want to see a link or screenshot of it though.

Just bump the post again if E3 comes and goes without a mention of 2K. One of these videos was posted on IGN I think, so someone is doing a good word of spreading this around.

I'm just putting my thoughts out on it. But I truly hope the license isn't exclusive for the sole purpose of being able to financially invest in the games.

Also, someone should look into EA's exclusivity deal and when the last time it was negotiated happened. Take-Two has the financial resources to make a play I would imagine.

This year. But zero details have been released other than the NFL and EA are still doing business.

I think this was already posted in The Locker Room.

Yeah an NFL title to rival Madden would definitely be kept under wraps like this.. In my experience that's exactly how video game marketing works.

Everything is kept under wraps until it is officially announced. The only thing you hear are rumors.

Look at the direction Sony, EA, and 2K have taken this past development cycle. Nada... Zip...nothing until the last minute. Times are changing apparently on the over saturation of games and their marketing.

Not saying its going to come true... Just saying this is the most we have heard about it as major outlets are discussing it now.

Lol I'm sure Bill remembers the speech...

"Don't mention Madden 15 it technically doesn't exist since we haven't announced it yet"

With Twitter and other social media, things get viral pretty quickly. Going back to the Baltimore Colts, you wouldn't be able to move a professional sports team nowadays in one night without someone figuring out and posting to social media and it quickly becoming viral. During each professional sports seasons when you have trade deadlines and free agent signings, news outlets are trying to report first via Twitter, and it is completely acceptable to cite a Tweet as a source for ESPN's front page until they get something more detailed up.

It's rare that a surprise is able to be pulled on anyone, which is a shame because I remember watching videos from the Spike game awards when they put out the first trailer for The Force Unleashed and the crowd went nuts.

2k is always hiring, I'm not sure that much should be drawn from that.
