So Now We Have Tattoos In Madden?!?

Why now? Why has it taken since Madden 05 to have tattoos back in the Madden NFL series? I address that in this weeks video... Time to stir the pot!

Good video! This is an interesting take on the tattoo situation. Could it have been that the NFL didn't want to risk lawsuits from tattoo artists due to their artwork being in the game without having a proper license?

If that's the case then why has NBA 2K had almost exact replicas of every player's tattoos for years now?

Not sure, maybe that 2K has different lawyers than EA?

I don't know about that...EA lawyers can't be any dumber than 2k's. It's easier to believe it was the NFL wanting the focus to be on the team and shield, not the players.

Apparently their are many cases of tattoo artists attempting to sue for the use of their work. It seems EA/NFL nixed tattoos back in the day rather than risk legal issues.

Example ... Shaq,'s Superman logo could lead to multiple lawsuits both from the creator and the artist that did the tattoo.

Kap got permissions from his tattoo artists to have them be in the game. Now extrapolate that out across how many thousands of players in the nfl, and their different artists.

Still doesn't explain how 2K has pulled this off for years. EA just doesn't give a shit about tattoos and player model accuracy in general up until now, assuming the rest of the player models are this much improved. That Gears of War shoulder pad armor BS from the last several Madden games was plain horrible.

The last one I remembered was the artist for Ricky Williams on NFL Street suing and that was dismissed. I just can't see how nobody has sued 2K cause I doubt every player has had their artist sign a waiver to have their tattoo included in anything digital.

edit: I'm hoping the rumors are true and competition is on the horizon.

Read an article on ESPN.com which mentioned that Kaepernick is the only player in the game with tattoos. Great job guys!

Aiming to get one step closer to real life, Electronic Arts will feature Colin Kaepernick's tattoos in the upcoming version of its "Madden" video game.

"There's a ton of buzz around this. In this game, we only have Colin's tattoos, but we'd love to secure the rights to the tattoos of other players in the future."

That pic does look good though.
