EA releases King of the Course to the US market

I had the opportunity to speak with Mike DeVault from EA Sports earlier today and we spent some time playing the King of the Course game that was released here in the US market as of today (6/10/14). If you remember, it was quietly released to the Canadian market in late April of this year so that EA could "kick the tires" on the game with a smaller audience.

King of the course is also available for Android devices in addition to the iOS devices available at the time of initial launch. We played the game on the iPad and walked away fairly impressed with the gameplay on a game that is available at no charge. There are certain boosts that are available in the game at a nominal fee if you so choose. This is even better if you consider that there is no advertising in the game.

Controls could not be more simplistic. You merely press the screen during the back swing and once you see the "star burst" that shows you are at the perfect swing power, swipe forward and hit the ball. If you hold the screen down too long you will see the swing meter being to flash red, which means you have too much power accumulated and you might want to just remove your finger from the screen and try again. Once the ball is in the air, you can control the spin on the ball by moving your finger on the screen to adjust the ball to your target.

PGA fans will also recognize some of the most famous courses on the tour, including St. Andrew's and Pinehurst.

This game is definitely worth checking out if you are a golf fan, especially since it is a free download. I'll have it loaded on my iPad for the trip home from E3 for sure!

Here are details from the EA site-
