VSN's exclusive first look at the halftime show in Madden NFL 15!

Watching 2K's 10 year old half time show reminded me, that game also had a weekly highlight show also commentated by Berman where he went through EVERY game that week and talked about what happened. Some games even had highlights. It was awesome for a number of reasons, you could see what was going on with other teams in your franchise mode and how they're doing, and it was always cool to see what he'd say about what you did that week and maybe see a highlight from your game.

I mean come the fuck on EA, 2K was doing this shit the right way a decade ago....

That was decent. The only use I have for a halftime show is to go grab something from the fridge.

Same here. I'm not wasting my time watching a halftime show on any game.

It was nice because for a second there it pulled you back, away from the video game, and made you feel like there was really an NFL season going on with other teams playing real games. Obviously this isn't something a lot of us watched every time. But for those times that you wanted to really rub it in to your homeboy who you just burned on a big play, there was really no better way than to hear Chris Berman talk about it.

In addition to that, in 2K5 you could go back and watch a replay from every play of the game. I'm not sure if Madden even has that now, where you can view EVERY SINGLE PLAY.

It used to be a lot of fun watching some of the explosion plays that would be highlighted from other teams. Berman would also talk about division standings, trades, injuries, etc.

It's conventional wisdom at this point that it's not in EA's best interests to put out a full halftime show that would make everyone happy. What would they sell to us next year?

Maybe they would focus on selling football next year if a small loud group of people didn't complain about not having halftime shows, 3D grass, hand towels and 6 different pairs of shoes... ;)

Maybe if they believed in some of the same base values football helps teach, one of which being accountability, they would look at themselves and not point to others as an excuse for their shortcomings.

EA has the ESPN license not Madden. I know it sounds basically the same but the NFL requires that if Madden uses a brand it needed to use the official network (NFL Network) until recently. So basically it was "use our stuff or build your own"

Exactly. If it is just highlights from the game I'm playing that is pretty much a waste of time. Considering this video mentioned it was a playoff game and yet they never cut away to any of the other games, is extremely disappointing.

So a 3 month old build then? Let's see if that is in the final version. There was a lot of wonky stuff still in the game at E3. The halftime show in the final was cleaned up a good bit. A lot more fluid.
