Breakdown of NBA Live 15 Graphical Upgrades

    Taken from the front page

    Holy Graphics!!!!!

This past week the EA SPORTS NBA Live team released another video showcasing their graphical upgrades for NBA Live 15. During E3 week we saw the amazing results of the highly touted facial scanning, and now this week we get to see other updates. This time, we get comparison shots of the NBA Courts, Jerseys, and even the basketball. Graphically the game is shaping up well, so let’s see what all the fuss about.
Here is the video they released showcased the graphical improvements.

After that quick video lets compare some screenshots between NBA Live 14 and NBA Live 15. We will start with the arena shots. Below at the top is a shot of Madison Square Garden (the New York Knicks home court) in NBA Live 14. The shot below that is of Madison Square Garden in NBA Live 15.

The differences between the two shots above are pretty close to each other. The main differences appear (to me) to be the lighting and some details like a more life like scoreboard as well as the ceiling.
    Courtside

Now we have courtside shots at the home of the Boston Celtics; the TD Garden. Once again the NBA Live 14 shot is on top and the NBA Live 15 shot is below it for comparison.

Obviously the bottom shot looks more rich in color… warmer if you will. The contrast in the different sections of parquet is more defined as well. Going a little more subtle is the lighting reflection onto the floor from above. The lights reflect off the sealant on the floor much more realistically.
    Shot Clocks?

Yes, they went there as well apparently. Look at the difference between the shots below and decide for yourself which one looks better.

    How about the Ball?

Yep… how can you overhaul a basketball game graphically without giving the namesake some love as well?!? What stands out for me once again is the color richness of the ball on the bottom (the ball from NBA Live 15).

So now we have seen pretty much the entire graphical package when the game is still. What we have seen is a clear upgrade, nearly amazing upgrade when you take into account the facial scans we saw a few weeks back. Now the question remains… how does it look in motion? How does it play? And what other upgrades will we see. One thing is for sure… it’s a long way until October.

This used to be my All-Time favorite EA sports title....Graphics have always been really good in NBA Live IMO.

It's the animations (Player Movement) that EA really needs to start stepping it up.

I'm really hoping this series can return to it's glory years.

I'm not much of a presentation/animation guy. I am more partial to AI and reaction time. When Live 14 came out I did a review on it and it was painful to play. There were so many issues that I hated so after the review I went back to playing NBA2K14 on PS3.

After the major patch came out in February I decided to give it another chance and I'm glad I did. While the changes werent huge they did make a large difference as a whole. Enough so that I went back and reviewed it again. Them game certainly isn't great but I really hit my stride with Ultimate Team.

If they put in that kind of work again this year I believe we will be very surprised.
