Madden 15 Gameplay Series: Player Sense 2.0

    From the front page-

Madden 15 Gameplay Series: Player Sense 2.0

EA Sports just released a new video on Madden 15 highlighting Player Sense 2.0. This feature brings improved coverage capabilities for zone and man defense.

Player interaction between receivers and defenders are improved along with better pursuit angles and tackling capabilities.

Our take is that these areas of the game were definitely a source of concern in Madden 25 so it is good to see that the development team put time into improving them for Madden 15.

Madden 15 launches on August 26th!

If defense is truly improved, I think we will really see the cream rise to the top in leagues. I'm hoping that defenses are improved as it would go hand in hand with my user skills with me only being able to cover so many WR's with one defender.

This is the first video that I have been really excited about. If worked pretty damn well when we played it several months back but it wasn't in all the way either.

It was in for the E3 build and defense was noticeably better from the earlier one we played in Orlando.

It was noticeably better versus the pass and outside runs by HB's last I played.

Looks good but EA has always known how to get you hyped with a trailer. There's always positives and negatives in these trailers if you look hard enough, and my experience has been everyone always sees exactly what they want to see.

One thing I'm interested in is Defensive shading and does it work? This is probably one of the main culprits responsible for pushing me back to APF-2K8 on an annual basis.

Whenever I play defense on Madden I always see the same routes. deep out routes, curls, and corners. Eventually it gets to the point you know when it's coming, so you try to put your defense in a position to be successful. The problem is it doesn't work and it takes way to much time just to shade one defensive back.

So maybe I'm spoiled by 2K8, but on that game all I have to do is press one button and push my analog stick left or right to shade to the outside or inside. So it's already more efficient in that regard. In addition to that, 80-90% of the time I can rely on that shade giving my defensive back a legitimate advantage to that side of the field as well. If my opponent only wants to throw deep out routes, I can shade my db's to the outside and be pretty safe in my assurance that they will break up passes and will probably force a turnover if I'm applying the right pressure up front. If I'm shading to the outside and my opponent recognizes that and runs a slant, I'm pretty fucked too, so it goes both ways. Some of the deep routes involving double moves are just beautiful in that game (2K8) and when shading is done incorrectly the amount of space a good wr can create is just amazing.

I don't see that in Madden and its one of the main reasons I think defense is a joke in the game.
