So no day one patch? I'll believe that when I see it.

I don't know if I've bought a game in 3 years that didn't have a day one fix.

ie, the quality of the game sucks, again, and we don't want you to realize that until after you purchased the full game.

Was on the fence, count me out now. Another year with no good football title. Not shocking though.

There will definitely be a day one patch. The game had to go to certification and manufacturing about 3 weeks ago. The Q&A team has been working long hours since then to finalize the day one patch that likely needs to be submitted to Sony and Microsoft by early next week.

Yes, no need to strive to be a good company.

I wont even bother, we both know its pointless.

I'm just gonna wait on this flawless version of Madden that has taken great leaps forward in game play. Most all of the issues we have been having for a decade plus will surely be fixed.

Seen that coming. The early access has a lot to do with that decision obviously.

If you can wait a week or two I strongly suggest to buy this game used.

You don't have to give up your football fix but you don't have to directly support EA either.

That's pretty much what I assume as well. But there stance works as well I guess. 3 months shorter cycle, the amount of streams they have done and doesn't exactly make sense to pull 4-5 guys off development to work on a demo for a few months.

Most nextgen games didn't put one out. I doubt madden does anytime soon.

Or just watch streams and decide if you want to buy or not.

No competitor.....check. Pay for access for early release, even if it's only on one console.....check.

You can definitely say that the early access is a grab for money, and I would tend to agree. However, Call of Duty never has a demo or open beta anymore, and there are many more competitors in the FPS genre than the football genre, so I would also expect criticism of them for that if people want to say EA isn't doing right by not putting out a demo. At the very least, you have the chance to get the game early, pay $5 to figure out if you want to buy it or not, unlike COD and many other games out there.

You're still supporting them even if you buy used. The number of unique players the game gets, whether used or new, is important for whatever advertisers they get on Madden. I haven't played the game in a long time, but I know 2k Sports has worked with KIA and Gatoraide among others. I assume Madden has similar deals. Being able to show those advertisers total players (not necessarily sales) and frequency (how often people are playing and seeing their sponsorship) means a lot and adds value to the deal. So even buying used puts money in EA's pocket. Not as much, but still, only option is to not buy at all imo.

It takes several people to pull a version, spend weeks debugging and QA. The locking out content and doing a second QA. The process takes several weeks (about a month last I know of) and if there is a mistake the process starts over again. Most demos are from builds 2-3 months prior to launch (that's the same for pretty much all developers).

I find it hard to believe that it takes a month to take a build that's already complete and gone through Q&A to make into a demo. How much coding is their dev team doing a month out anyway that they can't afford to take 4 people away? The game is already gold and completed or close to it at that point. I think their reasoning is complete BS, but I can't argue against it either so let's see where this 5% in extra development resources gets them.
