    ..

    Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.
We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

    Thanks,
    Darrell Gallagher
    Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

Damn. Looks like I'll be getting an XB1 sooner than I thought.

And the Xbox One lineup does? Are you serious? Forza was severely lacking. No one cares about Dead Rising 3. Ryse was meh at best and quickly forgotten. And the biggest laugher may be Titanfall. Do you know anyone still playing that game? It went from 'The greatest game ever made' at last year's E3 to no more giving a fuck about it mere months after launch.
At least Sony's indie lineup takes a giant dump on anything MS has to offer.
Neither PS4 or Xbox One has really any games worth buying a console for. Infamous is probably the closest but even then it's only if you were already a fan of the series.
Like Swarley has said, this is a smart move my MS, I think, but terrible for Square Enix and TR fans on general. I can't see too many people buying the Bone just for TR. This reeks of the shitty MS timed exclusive for the GTA4 dlc and that blew up on their face. They didn't get anywhere near the sales equalling the $50 mil they gave Rockstar.
EA quickly learned that signing an exclusivity agreement with MS over TF was a huge mistake. This deal must've have been even bigger than that none for SE to sign, or they're completely retarded.
Or Atlas, PrimeTime and Steel Mamba all accepted jobs on the Square Enix advisory board recently.

Microsoft probably sees this as their opportunity to have a true competitor for Uncharted(Which may or may not be releasing around the same time............Holiday season).

I think Forza was fine for a console racer. They also have one of the best fighting IP's in KI which turned out to be great. Classic Halo's with MP coming up, new Halo, Fable is looking pretty innovative, Crackdown, Gears and a lot of other good exclusives to look forward to. I just don't see what Sony has that compares.

I never said this was good or bad for Square, just further proof that the XB1 is better for gaming.

You're right, Forza was "fine". Nothing more, nothing less. LMAO at KI being "one of the best fighting IPs" though.
But yes, Halo is a big deal. I'll give you that. I'm very excited for the Anniversary collection.
                Also, Sunset Overdrive looks amazing.

This is kind of a stretch. For one, KI may be the best fighting IP of this gen so far...as it is basically the only one out there right now. I would also describe it as "surprisingly good" more than I would say it's great.

As for that list of exclusive games, I'd say you can match that pretty closely with the PS4. Uncharted is on the way, as is Little Big Planet 3, Bloodborne, this potentially exclusive Kojima/Del Toro Silent Hill joint, presumably Kingdom Hearts 3, The Order 1886, and No Man's freaking Sky. MS has certainly stepped it up this generation with its exclusive content, and it has come along way since the announcement of the Juan, but let's not act like just because Sony hasn't had anything come out recently that it's just got nothing in the cupboard and MS is just booming with new shit to pump out.

All the exclusives in the world won't take me away from Uncharted, the Show, and the company that puts out exclusives that I give a shit about. Halo and Gears mean nothing to me, TR will mean nothing to me until it hits PS4 Greatest Hits, if trying to make TR and a few day headstart for EA games exclusive to the Xbox is how Microsoft plans to get more loyal customers they are sadly mistaken.

And still doesn't have to directly compete with Uncharted on the PS4 if they release near each other. All part of the plan

I don't know what more you expect from a console racer, it's right there on par with GT. What more could they do with it.. Yes, if you're into competitive fighters then KI is definitely right there with the best, like KoF. I know SF and MK are more popular, but both are a lot easier and not as satisfying.

Little Big Planet? Kingdom Hearts? Kids games, no thanks.
