MLB: The Show 14 (PS4) ... I actually finished an entire season

Save for the 11 games left in the season after I clinched a division title.
The quick counts has changed that game for me completely. I love being able to get games done quickly, and clearly MLB The Show is a great franchise.
With 11 games left in my regular season, I decided just to sim them so I could get to the playoffs.
As the Blue Jays, I lost my first two games at home vs. Oakland, then recovered to tied the series with two wins on the road. Gotta admit, I was really getting into desperation mode.
    Game 5 Sunday.

Just wanted to get my season done with Madden 15 and The Golf Club coming out.

    Quick counts a great idea.

Yeah I read something on PP saying how disappointed the community was with quick counts and couldn't understand it.

They make it possible to knock out 5-10 franchise games in the same amount of time it used to take to finish just one.

Have they fixed loading times (on PS4)?

I'm still playing MLB 13 (own PS3 '14) because I want to get my RTTS to FA. He "should" reach his 6th year by the time the FA period begins, I'm already into August 2021. I play every opportunity given, including Spring Training. I'm hoping to go to a NL team, as I've been with Seattle my whole major league career. I'm ready to move on, not because I don't enjoy '13 but the Achievement System is so dumb. I failed 2 Achievement time periods in a row, right before the 2020 season ended and ended up on the bench for the Playoffs (we won the West). The best player put on the bench (2 G, 1 AB, 1 H) and we didn't get out of the first series against a Wild Card team (NYY)...that pissed me off.

Load times are still pretty gnarly... Takes a good minute to load up an RTTS game usually.. Double that for a full game mode.

Every AB starts out with some balls and strikes already called. Usually it's nothing major, but the article I read on PP was complaining because sometimes batters coming up with 2 strikes, or pitchers having to deal with 3 ball counts right off the bat.

Personally, I like it because I hate working the count.

I lost 5-4 to Oakland today. Season over. R.A. Dickey won the Cy Young during the season and proceeded to go 0-2 11.94 ERA in the playoffs. Ugh.

I agree with Glen. Love quick counts ... Way more enjoyable for me.

They will probably make the needed improvements to quick counts next year. It definitely makes it easier for people who want to play a franchise instead of simming. I know I used to sim four games, and play when my ace had a start.

I just wish they would fix online for once. There is no reason to continue to have terrible online connection for the past four years at least.

The only thing about quick counts I didn't like is seeing two strikes on a batter who I wanted to bunt. But it was a small sacrifice for the time saved with quick counts. That and the fact my on base percentage as a team might have been the worst in MLB history, despite winning the AL East with 15 games left in the season.

When it comes to hitting, I'm kinda like the Ricky Bobby of baseball - first or last. My Jays also led the league in homeruns by a nice margin, while Encarnacion won the HR title with 49.

Something you guys will laugh about.

As the Toronto Blue Jays, I admittedly hate playing at the Rogers Centre, I want to play in an open air park with grass. It only took until about 130 games in when I realized I could play in any park I wanted to play in. LOL. I felt like such an idiot. The Jays had home games at spring training fields, Coors Field, etc... when I realized that.

My "home" games vs. Cubs were played at Wrigley Field.

If I do another season, it will likely be with a National League team. I hate the DH.

Another thing about the Show I don't like ... it's too easy to cheat with warming up relievers. You simply don't have to - a trip to the mound is good enough. I kinda wish they'd changed that and force us to be more strategic with warming up relievers.

I also noticed that there wasn't a penalty for warming them up for too long. Maybe I didn't have that option turned on? I remember it in years past.

If you are going with a National League team, try playing a younger team like Pittsburgh or Miami.

I was thinking that or the San Diego Padres. My pre-requisite is a good ballpark.

I'm playing with the Padres a bit......fantasy draft team in a sense. The ballpark looks nice in the game, and includes a plane flying in the background. They've done a lot of little things like that that have worked well.
