[ALL] Where Do the Previous Generations Consoles Rank on Your All-Time Favorite List?

So, despite the fact that the only active, non-league thread at this site is one that at best tip-toes around racism and at worst, consists of blatantly horrible statements, I figured that this could be a fun distraction for the 3 or 4 people that still post in the Arcade.

Where do the previous generation's consoles rank on your all-time favorite list? I'm not including PC in this (if you want to, be my guest. For me, it will always be #1) or handhelds. Feel free to offer an explanation or just a list, your choice. Here's mine:

    1. SNES - I saved my money to get this the day that it came out, and it has a wealth of my favorite games ever that I still play today. It had such an amazing library of games that were well ahead of their time.
    2. Playstation 2 - Not really much can be said about the PS2. A staggering library and the leap from PS1 to 2 was amazing. Sure, I believe that I owned 3 or 4 of them over the life of the system, but it was a great time.
    3. NES - A lot of stuff from this that I remember loving doesn't hold up fantastically, but nostalgia alone has this high on my list.
    4. Xbox 360 - I loved a lot of games on the 360, particularly the XBLA, but the big thing about that system was what it did for online bells and whistles. Which makes the missing stuff from the Juan all the more baffling.
    5. Playstation - This is probably the most difficult system for me to go back to and play, between the controller and the graphics of the old games, but it still holds a special place in my heart for things like Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Tekken 3 and Legacy of Kain.
    6. Playstation 3 - The PS3 didn't do much for me early on, but gamewise it definitely skyrocketed towards the end. I still hate the controller and the interface, but it's a beast of a system with a great library, and being able to download PS2 games is great.
    7. Gamecube - Didn't play this too much, but loved Double Dash and Metroid Prime enough to bump it over those beneath it.
    8. Dreamcast - I wasn't as big of a Dreamcast fan as my friends were, but it still had a lot of great, weird games that I enjoyed. Power Stone in particular.
    9. Wii - Wii Sports and Super Mario Galaxy were really the only games I enjoyed on the Wii. For all the systems it sold, it never lived up to its early potential (or at least, what seemed like potential).
    10. Xbox - I literally had this because Knights of the Old Republic 2 didn't work on my PC at the time it was released. Other than that great game, this thing collected dust.

Not ranked, but liked (mostly because I didn't own them and only got to play them at a friend's house):

    Genesis
    Sega CD
    N64
    Saturn
Atari 2600 (I have some fond memories, but overall I was way too young)

    Of the ones I've owned...

    1) Playstation 2 - high replayability value with certain sports games
    2) Commodore 64 - best stat-driven sports games and a variety of weird games
    3) Sega - had a few good games, but lack of realistic season/dynasty modes in sports game was limiting.
    4) Atari 2600 - really hit or miss with the games...but even the best games you'd play for 10 minutes then put in a new cartridge.
    5) Playstation 1 - terrible sports games, but I did like Metal Gear and Gran Turismo.
    6) Saturn - waste of money

Never owned or even played it but I wanted the Sega Saturn so fucking bad for the World Series Baseball game.

      Among the ones I've owned...

      1. PS2 -- I probably played this system the longest of any before I got the PS3
      2. SNES -- My brother and I kicked each others asses in Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat & Super Mario World was the shit
      3. PS1 -- Blew my mind when I finally got this, around 98. MLB 99 was my first game (I remember printing out the game features before getting it and being amazed...see below) and when I discovered MGS in one of those PS CD of demos they sent out, one of my best gaming memories.
      4. Genesis -- Splatterhouse freaked me out
      5. NES -- What was weird growing up, both sets of grandparents had NES systems at their places, so no matter where my brother and I were, we'd end up playing. I never thought about it much as a kid, figured everyone had gaming systems.
      6. Gamecube -- what a waste of $$ that turned out to be. Although, I did really like Eternal Darkness

I only played the N64 at friends houses so that's when I was able to play Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Super Smash Brothers & WWF No Mercy.

        1. Xbox - Introduced some of my favorite console games like Halo which is still the best MP console shooter to this date.
        2. Xbox 360 - Raised the bar in terms of what consoles should be able to offer in terms of online service. Great library as well.
        3. Dreamcast - Ahead of its time and pretty underrated
        4. Playstation

Genesis - this was the most fun with friends machine i ever owned. playing madden and nhl with my buddies was a blast.
360 - this was like the biggest jump in quality games imo. the online aspect of the 360 along with all the great titles. it got me off sports games and into so many new genres.
            NES - Mario, enough said.

Original post so disrespectful of the Sega Genesis. I loved that console.

Disrespectful? I didn't own one, so how could it be one of my favorite consoles?

Oh God (or whomever you choose to worship) ... you didn't own a Sega Genesis? Wow. Admit: I just re-read your original post. I can't believe any older gamer didn't own a Genesis.

Eh...it was a fun system and I played a ton of it at friend's and what not, but the SNES was much, much better overall, IMO. I spent my money on that and never looked back.

Not bashing the SNES, both were great consoles.

I respectfully disagree about the SNES. It was a pretty great console but the Genesis kicked its ass and took its lunch money. Multi platforms were better (just search YouTube for comparison videos), the library was larger and it was full of classics. The SNES of course had the staples like Mario, Zelda and Metroid though and it was the console of choice for JRPGs (which we all know I loathe anyway), but besides that but was Genesis all the way.

                            1) NES
                            2) Genesis
                            3) PS2
                            4) PS1
                            5) PS3
                            6) 360
                            7) SNES
                            8) Wii
                            9) Turbo Grafx 16
                            10) PS4

As always, gaming is weird for me because I didn't play them until the 360 basically

                              1. PS2- I played Madden and Socom religiously. My Socom days are what I'll look back on whenever I stop gaming and wish I could go back.
                              2. GBC- I know you didnt include them but for someone limited like myself, I played the Pokemon games and Mega Man more than any two games in existence. I just have to include it.
                              3. 360- The console that got me to actually play games so it ends up over the ps3. It was cheaper for a kid like myself to buy and I loved Bioshock when it came out and the rest was history.
                              4. PS3- I saved up all of money for a year so I could buy this game the day Socom Confrontation came out. I remember being disappointed in it, but looking back I played it a ton and actually really enjoyed it. It captured the Socom feel that 4 didnt. Eventually most of my favorite games came exclusively to this system.
                              5. N64- GREAT system but I didnt have that many friends over my house growing up so a lot of the fun co-op games I didnt get to truly experience correctly. Still a fun little system that I still own and occasionally play to this day.
                              6. PS1- Twisted Metal 1,2,3. Go to my cousins and play them in order. Rinse and repeat. Beat the games over 200 times.
                              7. Sega- I only remember playing this system with my best friend who I would be with for days at a time palying hockey games, boogerman and all sorts of games. It was fun but I cant remember much. I do remember bonding over The Lion King with my dad tho. The only game him and I ever played together.
                              9. PS4- Ive played one game on this system and probably another year before I play another.

I do wonder how much it has effected me to not really start playing games until way later in my life. I can go back and play some fo the better games on the older system and still really enjoy them, but I have a hard time ever saying certain classics like DOOM or Super Mario Bros are anything but alright games. It happens a lot. The ones I do tend to be more lenient to are the old school RPGs, specially on the PSX and PS2 when i do actually play them.
