The thing I don't understand is my internet is currently working just fine. But for the last few days I've noticed that when it showed I had full connection it wasn't letting me surf the internet. I'd reset the modem and then everything would be ok.
Anyone have any suggestions on what to do. I'm going to unplug my PS3 and the Modem and see if that helps. The winds been a real bitch lately but I just don't understand why my PS3 would just stop working while everything else still has perfect internet connectivity. Any help is awesome.
for example, you type in www.google.com in the address bar, but your computer doesn't know what the fuck that means, but everyone has a DNS server that has a huge mfin directory that says this domain name (i.e. google.com) is this IP.
computers only understand numbers.
so basically it sounds as if you are trying to connect to something via domain name, but whatever DNS server is giving you information, doesn't know what the IP is you are trying to hit when you attempt to connect by hostname (whatever the PSN servers are)
that's my guess as to what's going on
something you could try would be manually entering in a different DNS server on your PS3, (there are free ones you can use, just google free DNS servers) and see if that resolves your problem?Comment

a few suggestions.
1 - make sure when your using your ps3 that your have media sharing turned off on the ps3. you probably already know this, but just in case
2 - make sure your router has the following ports open. you will enter this under port forwarding
80 TCP
443 TCP
5223 TCP
3478 UDP
3479 UDP
3658 UDP
3 - One thing most people will recommend is that your create a static IP for the ps3. I used to have mine setup this way, but lost all my settings on the router one day and just never set it up again. I didnt need this, but you might

the other thing u may want to try before any of this is calling your cable company and talking to tech support. try to get a tier 2 or level 2 support guy. those are the computer geeks and they are usually good at resolving issues. It may be something on there endLast edited by Maynard; 04-04-2009, 10:55 AM.Comment

since that is the case, i would say call the cable company. Sometimes they change or do something on there end and it doesnt always filter down to the users. And since it just started acting up for no reason, i would imagine that they can fix it.
i dont know what kind of router you have, but they tend to be crappy ass pieces of shit. I make my cable company give me a new one every year cause they stop working right all of a sudden
EDIT - if u call them, dont tell them its a ps3 issue. They seem to discredit that and blame it on the ps3. Just say you cant connect on the pcLast edited by Maynard; 04-04-2009, 11:15 AM.Comment

happens to me every few weeks or every month. Usually I think it's my PS3 being over-heated so I turn it off for a few hours when I get the error and everythings fine. Never happened to me while I was in a game tho.
