Nintendo just announced a new model of the 3DS and 3DS XL that will have a 2nd analog stick added to the right to the handheld console. Considering they sell millions of these devices each year, was it a smart move on Nintendo's part to roll out a new device that effectively obsoletes their entire embedded base of users?

I don't know if it was a smart move or not, because I can barely see the point of it. I know that that monstrous Circle Pad Pro was supposed to cover this, but as far as I know the only popular game to use it was the Resident Evil game. It's not like there is currently a wealth of games that require its usage, so unless they have a plan to pump a ton that do, this seems likely to be unnecessary.
I wish Nintendo would relax with the "updated" 3DS' and instead focus on "figuring out" how to enable access to VC games across multiple systems. It's mindblowing ridiculous that I can't play Mega Man 2 on both my Wii/Wii U and my 3DS without fucking buying them on both.Comment
