    No 2K15 Demo this year

The PlayStation blog for this week came out this morning and didn't show a demo NBA 2K15 and 2K confirmed there will not be a demo a little while ago.

This is the 2nd year in a row without a demo for NBA 2K.

I think we are seeing the downfall of demos. I would imagine it will trickle through the sports gaming genre over the next few years.

Demo's for sports games aren't as important in my opinion. Most of the customers that purchase sports games know what they are getting year in, year out.

Demo's outside the sports genre are still important, however.

I think it's the other way around and I don't see this as a good sign for 2k15. You really have no idea what you're getting year to year from a sports title, as even minor slider adjustments alone can have a drastic impact on how the game plays. If you look at 2k8 to 2k9 it's a significantly different game, without even taking graphics into consideration. In videos 2k9 looked great, but it wasn't until you actually played the game that you were able to realize how clunky and imprecise the controls and player movement was compared to 2k8. The game went from being a hardcore sim, to something not even worth buying and it took 2k a few years to finally get the franchise back on track.

So what are we getting with 2k15? I really have no idea and have to wait till the game is out now to see if they developed a good sim or not. Even then it's still hard to sift through the bias (better and worse) and make a true judgement of the game without actually playing it.

If you look at games like Halo, Destiny, Rainbow Six etc you know what you're getting. You know what games are competitive or arcade, skill based or casual, tactical or frantic. There's really no surprises as you know what category the games fall in so it's easy to determine which ones will fit your preference. Sports games have too many intricacies and can fall into different categories from year to year, sim or arcade, and they'll also be classified differently by different people. So the only way to know where a sports game falls for you is to play it.

so what they are saying is it will be full og bugs like madden and they dont care for public to find them before we spend the money on the game. Way to go 2k sports damn dummies.

I don't buy many games Day 1 or do midnight launch/downloads, so not having a demo is no biggie for me. I'll see what the complaints are and look at YouTube videos the days after release. But I agree that we many not see many demos anymore. I don't even think MS requires demos anymore.

If that's the case, release day isn't for two more weeks so that gives 2k a little more time. Depending on the severity of the bugs, I'd say most would be fixed within the first 2-3 weeks the game drops. That's if a good amount of them aren't already fixed in the release day patch.

What in the hell is with these developers skipping out on the demos? How is it any extra work when they are showing off "work in progress" builds at expos all over? Why can't those be used?

I disagree. I know with madden, while pretty much the same game for the most part, they always change the "feel" of the game. Why? IDK, maybe to just say they have been working on a new game. Get the shit right and keep it that way while making tweaks.

One would think that in the sports-gaming genre that actually has competition, that both 2K and NBA would put out demos showcasing their basketball games.

Seriously, I get not having a demo for Madden, NHL or MLB The Show (even though NHL had a demo, go figure.) Those are the only games in their sports genre, with no competition. But for the one that actually has two games out, I think you would want to get ahead with a demo.

I don't think many people have forgotten the buggy mess that 2K14 delivered last fall. To me, the demo is important to show that there will be a good experience right out of the gate vs having to wait until 3 months in to be able to enjoy all of the features on the box.

NBA2k and NBA Live really aren't competitors.

NBA Live has a few years to go before it is a legit competitor to NBA2k.
