For those that aren't aware of this interesting story, someone took note that the Games On Demand version of GTA: SA was removed from Live last week. Apparently someone contacted MS and Rockstar and they actually confirmed it was deliberately taken down because they would be replacing it with and up res'd version in 720p with better draw distances, better textures and ACHIEVEMENTS. They said that it would be up on the service sometime this week to coincide with the ten year anniversary of the original release. There was no mention of the price and most were speculating that it would be $20, the same price as the original GOD version, or maybe even $10 because of the anniversary.
Well, surprise, surprise, it popped up YESTERDAY on Live for the crazy low price of $3.74! Credit to Handle for giving me the heads up. I immediately downloaded it and played it for a few hours last night. Not only did they make the improvements that I mentioned but they also added checkpoint saves and control options. You can use the standard controls or a new modern version which uses RT to aim. You also have the option of sticking to teh standard 'lock on'targeting or FREE AIM. It's a great addition but I will add that the free aim is extremely sensitive, even after turning it down (it seems ripped from the PC version) and you still have to press B to shoot. Why the couldn't make LT aim and RT shoot is beyond me.
Even though the game obviously still looks dated, the enhancements to the visuals are quite nice and the game still controls pretty well. The game itself is of course still awesome...and did I mention ACHIEVEMENTS?!?
I have no idea how long it will be this price so I strongly suggest downloading it ASAP.

We knew a 720p graphically improved version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was hitting the Xbox 360 this weekend to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary. We didn't know it would cost under $4.
When I first came across the listing for the game on Xbox.com I was confused by the price — was this just the original release? I purchased it for myself, but I have no idea where my Xbox 360 power cable is to verify. Finally I stumbled upon a stream from Twitch user Gtchy1230, who confirmed the 720p version he was streaming was purchased from the Marketplace for $3.74.

It's a very odd price, which leads me to believe it's either some sort of mistake or a limited-time promotion, so if you're interested, now's the time.
