I still haven't gotten around to getting updated rosters. I will though and i can't wait to do it. Plus on ESPN NFL 2K5 getting those updated rosters you can actually get accurate historic rosters which i would love to have. Past Gens Historic rosters sucked major ass and Next Gen doesn't have Historic Rosters.
OMG!!! (we can dream)

LMAO irish, 2k5 DOES NOT have everything madden fans have been asking for, it does have alot better player animations for tackling/catching ect, but the defenders are still dumb as shit, and the AI is way more easily abused with a quick audible in 2k5 than in madden, if u play man in 2k5 there are audibles u can call where the CB won't even follow the WRComment

I've said it a million times... if the game was so good, why did people spend $40 more on Madden 05? If 2k5 had any online community whatsoever, people would've found every glitch in that game and exposed it to the world the same way everyone rips Madden to shit after 3 months. I would bet you money right now if you bought Madden 2010 and NEVER played a game online or read something about how shitty "this and that" is, you would think it's the greatest football game ever too. Mark my words.
FYI, 2K has a decent online community. There are a lot of guys at OperationSports who do roster updates and play in leagues.
It has DIFFERENT gameplay. I'm 99% sure anyone who really thinks Madden's gameplay is better is only saying that because they've been playing Madden for years and it's awkward to switch to something so different. 2k5 did the little things in football right which Madden continuously overlooks.Last edited by Esjay; 04-19-2009, 10:02 AM.Comment

I was tired this morning. Wanted to reply, but didn't have the energy to think.
First and foremost, 2k5 is most definitely overrated. It isn't the be-all, end-all of video game football people make it out to be, but they focused on the right things and made an amazing game.
Animations, offensive line/defensive line interaction, WR/DB interaction, deeper franchise mode, things along those lines. The presentation gets a lot of press, and it was phenomenal, but to me, that's not where the game shines. It's the animations that make the game. They're more fluid and more real.
I'm not a big fan of the locomotion system. The way players pivot is really annoying, plus inertia doesn't affect all players equally.
There are a few ways it gets way overrated. The playbooks were a good 5 years behind when the game came out 5 years ago (APF is even worse). The AI was questionable in a lot of ways... especially coverage. The player ratings were terrible (thankfully, that can be corrected), and the franchise cpu AI was a bit lame (though not as bad as Madden, just bad in a different way).S.P.Q.A.

That formation has been dead for years, and is RARELY used if ever. the only time I see it used is when I'm watching 6 year old pee wee football.Comment

Because its Madden. The madden community is huge which is what killed the 2k series. Madden had already built a steady fan base and usually if you grew up playing Madden then you would play madden. And i agree with you that if it had the same community size it would be ripped to shreds like Madden. But with all games nothing is going to be perfect, there will always be glitches. The reason 2k5 was claimed as the best is because IMO it was at its time. I mean it had everything Madden fans have been asking for years now. It had good animations(ex. 3 player tackle, madden just adapted 2 people tackling in 08),great presentation(halftime shows with highlights and commentary, weekly recaps, all of this has not even been touched in madden yet) and the graphics looked great for an Xbox game.
So what im trying to say is the reason NFL 2k5 was so great and many people still have a great joy playing it is because it offered us what we have wanted for years and they made it seem like this is how a football game should be.
" I would bet you money right now if you bought Madden 2010 and NEVER played a game online or read something about how shitty "this and that" is, you would think it's the greatest football game ever too. Mark my words."
Now i dont want to sound rude but of course it fucking would. I mean you would have nothing to compare the game to, nobodies opinions except your own. The only thing you can compare it to would be 09 and of course its better than that. But is being slightly better than shit really that much better? It would be the best football game ever because your only comparing it to something slightly worse. But that doesnt mean it is a good game.
