          I was really impressed

they took the buttons away so fighting actually took a little bit of skill instead of just button mashing all day

As a former button user in all previous boxing games I can honestly say the new TPC is far better than any button system. In round 3 the TPC wasnt very good but that isnt the case in Rnd 4. You just need to practice. It took me all of 3 or 4 fights to get used to it.

well thats good to hear. Honestly, i didnt put alot of time into the demo cause i was turned off by the lack of face buttons. Pulling off a jab jab cross combo with the analog stick was clunky vs the face buttons on 3. But i guess i should give the demo some more time

fighting with Mike Tyson is FTMFW

It's not button mashing when timing, finding openings, realistic countering, etc is all important. Mashing buttons doesn't do you any good with a game like this. So, doing moves on a thumbstick doesn't take anymore boxing skill or knowledge than pressing a button does.

Personally I'm gonna wait until after the game has been out for a bit to see what people say about online play. I have a feeling that it's going to be just as unrealistic and cheesy as FNR3 was. Now, judging by the demo fighting against the AI is pretty realistic. But, because unrealistic combos are still effective, it's easy to spam certain punches, and the footwork is terrible I can see a lot of people abusing the game and not trying to make realistic fights.. We'll see, maybe the final version is better in that regard.

I think earlier in this thread I also mentioned I hated the fact that buttons were no longer usable for punches.

Yeah, I'm way past that now. rofl.

Yeah, I've grown accustomed to using the analog stick for punches. Doesn't mean I still don't prefer the buttons at this point but I've gotten used to it.

You said it does you no good then said its easy to do lol

It was far too easy on FNR3 to button mash ... the stick doesnt take much more skill but imo its alot harder to be quicker with certain combos instead of pressing one or two buttons non stop

This being said i cant way for this game

And VSN is going to have leagues and Ladders and shit so who cares about what random cheesers do anyways

No that's not what I said.

Fnr3 had button mashing because the mechanics of the game weren't remotely realistic, so button mashing worked. Button mashing on round 4 would not be a good tactic so there's really no reason to take away the buttons now. The game just needs to be fluid with combos and certain punches regardless of what's being used. That has to do with the engine and not the controls.

I like gettin online and playing leagues and tournament are fine for a few games here and there, but ovr that's not a solution either. The game just needs to be made right.

I agree but its the same on every game . These guys arent called "ranked bums" for no reason .

I hope button mashing wont work on FNR4 ... i really do.

Edit: Not button mashing lol seeing as you cant use the buttons. I mean using the same punch over and over with stupid over-effectivness

your gonna find cheese tactics in any game. So how a person plays will determine that factor. But personally, i tried my hardest to make the fight in FN3 be as realistic as possible. It was not easy to make heavyweight fights go 12 rounds and i dont recall ever doing that.

I never had to button mash and i could fight a tactical fight. Problem was the gameplay was sub par. Im sure we all had the same punches landed issue. I would land more punches then the CPU would even throw.

And to change the subject......god forbid the cpu would ever use the jab which is a staple of every fighter. Played more of the demo last night and used both fighters a few times. The cpu fighter hardly used the jab at all. The white guy seemed to be a inside fighter, but the other guy (paquin sp?) who looked like a jab boxer didnt jab either.

People who claim the AI is better, i would like to know what your basing that on

Ricky Hatton (the white guy) wouldnt know what a Jab was if it came up and punched him the the face . Also Manny is hardly a jab fighter either , he does use it alot more than a "few times a fight" though . The time to worry is if they put Wlad Klistcho on the game and he didnt jab lol seeing as thats 90% of Wlad`s punches

In the demo i found Manny jabbing me a bit , not as much as id like but i cant complain to be honest.

Also i firmly think that FNR3 was the worst of the 3 so i can understand your frustrations with the game . The ps2 versions had such a better carrer/story mode and it was harder to win at the top levels

And the AI is visibly better imo on the demo than on FNR3 . They actual take better angles and dont just go for a powerful haymaker all day that you can just counter without putting much effort in at all . The FNR3 AI was so bad
