How to beat the "spam punchers"

When they're about to start spamming, block your face. If they go to punch the body block your body but be ready to block the face again. Throw in some body hooks when they yield a little. If they don't yield you might need to "spam" a little too (but don't get out of control) IF THEY STOP PUNCHING pick your shots.

Remember if you punch efficiently (60%+) and they don't within a few rounds they will have nothing in the corner game to save themselves and you should have a bank of points.

By the fifth round you can gradually become more and more offensive and by the seventh at the latest you will be in prime position to outright dominate. None of these scrubs have gone 9 rounds against me using this strategy.

Now that I have more time in with this game im starting to get annoyed with it. The gameplay is showing the same pattern during fights. Every fight I have goes 7-8 rounds. I win rounds 1-7 and in the 7th or 8th the cpu manages some little burst of super power and lands a punch for a KO.

The cpu defense is also too good. They block and counter everything and counter punches are extremely powerful. I don’t seem to get credit for a head move and counter or a block and counter. Haymakers are worthless vs the cpu. I land a few to the body, but if I try and goto the head they just block it. Haymakers might as well not even be there now.

What really bothers me is that the outside fight game is pointless in FN4. If you choose to be a long reach jab type boxer then you lose. The jab is so worthless at doing damage that you can land the punch at 70% and it really has very little effect on damaging your cpu opponent. I land it and setup a hook or a uppercut, but the cpu always blocks those and counters or manages an uppercut counter for a flash KO.

Im only playing fight now matches right now. I been using heavyweights (no cabs). Im gonna play around with the sliders and see if I can get a better experience.

I had a similar problem. Try playing legacy. The game is a better experience overall in that mode.

I like this game and have been playing legacy and online but I don't see myself playing this once Madden drops.

Hell, I might even trade it in for NCAA just to get a new game. I can see myself getting bored/tired of the repetitiveness pretty quickly. Every fight is pretty much the same.

That what this game is. A summer game to hold you off until the fall games drop. Or Madden, if you're into that kinda thing. NBA 2k10 won't be leaving my disc tray for a while once I get it.

But this game is a lot of fun and like Houtz said, a nice getaway from the Show right now.

I agree with the last three people but saying that i am nowhere near bored with the game yet . If the computer just wants to block and wait for counters then i land a few punches and get out of there.

Im 15-0-1 on the 2nd top level with Mayweather (only 4 knockouts) (yes i downloaded him) . Im happy to just win on points every fight to be honest lol , if i try trade all day with the cpu he wins so i fight smart. My draw was vs Paulie Malignaggi tho

Online im 18-5 which is top 600 but i have only faced 2 punch spammers so far so i guess i got lucky

The world championship online mode is fun as shit. I'm 2-0-0 so far with 2 KO's. Both fights I was losing early on but turned it around and scored KO's.

I think I'm 2-4 online (2KO)

Two wins came against spam punchers that went into the late rounds and I knocked them out. My first loss was against a spam puncher before I figured out a defense against it. I have three decision fights that went in the way of the spam punchers. I lol coming out of fights where guys are throwing 500+ more punches.

Spam punchers are the easiest ones to counter. I know I was a bit too aggressive in that fight with you vinsane and it costed me. lol, it's just hard to imagine some 6'8 260 black man with the foot speed that sweet pea has. rofl.

Whats a spam puncher?

Spam Punching is just throwing the most punches in a round. Hoping to land shots continuously. No defense is ever played by these type of players. Usually just throwing punches in hopes of catching quick knock outs.
