From there, you play on three piles (or Caravans) as well as your opponent's if you so choose.

The goal is to get each of your piles to add up to a total number that is more than 21 but less than 26.

Meanwhile, you use face cards to determine whether any (or ALL in some cases) pile loses certain suits (clubs, spades, hearts, diamonds), particular cards or goes in a certain direction.

At the end, you want to reach the afformentioned point total before your opponent by 'selling your caravans.'
So do you draw cards at the beginning or what? How do you build your caravans? Is there a tutorial for this in-game? lol.

yeah... fuck caravan. i usually dont like it when a game has some bullshit card minigame, but sometimes its fun. in NV, its really not. going to skip this feature entirely.

hardcore mode really isnt all that hardcore, i havent encountered a situation yet where it wasnt easy to just map travel to a place to refresh. if anything, it makes it easier. all that bullshit _____ meat you collect from the random encounters is actually useful, so you just eat that. plus, if you follow the tutorial completely, you get a map location right at the start of the game that gives you the water, and thats the only thing that pops up. its a nice touch, but doesnt make the game signifigantly harder, just gives you one more gauge to keep track of. not a big deal.

explosives got improved in a big way, early game dynamite can let you totally dominate encounters that you wouldnt be able to handle with a gun (dynamite at someones feet and watching their torso/limbs fly off in multiple directions is kind of one of the coolest things ive done in a video game in a long time) and later in the game you get grenade launchers which are even more dominant. i cant even imagine how happy ill be to drop a fatman round on a boss and giggle like a little girl.

        Starting out:

After you build your deck, you and your opponent draw 8 cards from it for your beginning hand.

From that hand, you put down a card for each caravan that you will build throughout the game.

These cards have to be either Aces or numbered cards (no Face Cards).

Also of note, this is the only point of the game where you are unable to discard cards from your hand.

        Playing:

After you set up your Caravans, your next turn involves either:

-Playing a card from your hand and drawing a new card from your deck

-Discarding a card from your hand and drawing a new card from your deck

-Discarding all the card from one of your Caravans.

        Playing Pt. 2:

From here, shit gets more convoluted.

You're better off skipping it unless you REALLY want the Cheevo/Trophy for it.

Is this is buggy as I'm reading? Looking to snatch it up for 360.

Caravan makes no sense. Seems to have no flow to how the cards can be laid down. I thought I was getting it until the cpu was going 8, 3, 5, 7, using different suits. Just no rhyme or reason

Seth, I havnt had the issues being mentioned. But one of my online friends has seen a lot of crashes on his slim 360. but its been running fine for me

              I'm currently...

On the perimeter of the Penitentary outside of Primm sitting on a hill.

I have my Varmit Rifle, about 10 bullets left for the gun and a set of Binoculars I found along the way.

From what I can gather, Obsidian's inclusion of better Iron Sights for guns and a Guns skill of 38/Strength score of 7/the Perk you can start with that allows you to aim better while firing slower has helped me IMMENSELY.

I'm now picking off Powder Ganger tower guards like I'm Tom Berenger.

From what I've read, the Caravans are built through matching suits or cards of ascending/descending order.

You can't top a number card with a matching number card if they're the same suit but you can use as many Face cards as you'd like on any Ace or number card.

After that, whatever the CPU does I can't explain because their no more specifics.

If you start on Hardcore, level towards getting the Cannibal perk.

You'll be directed towards getting a canteen to help you with your Dehydration meter, you can sleep mostly anywhere AND...

You have an unlimited supply of food via the pile of corpses you produce in your journeys.

...also, you might find that certain NPCs will be looking for you.

In a fit of anger or otherwise. ;)

No thanks for Cannibal perk. I'm playing it with my own personal morals so it's more real to me. lol

I've fallen into a rhythm of completing a quest, going back to the casinos for some heavy gambling, rinse, and repeat.
