I hope it's different enough from Fallout 3 though that it doesn't feel like just another expansion.

They'll be using the same engine and assets from Fallout 3 so they should be able to get it done.

Yea in that case they should just do bigger DLC's.... I mean an engine overhaul isnt needed but if they are going to do it out west they need to take some of the feel from the first two games back in the series...

Wait the fallout isnt being dev by bethesda or ES isn't? I don't think it would be a good idea to get rid of either title unless BlackIsle is being resurected for a true fallout experience

I like the idea that we may get some of the guys from fallout 2 (dont really know if they are still around) working on the next installment. I can't quite put my finger on what made FO2 better that FO3 but, if they can find that, whatever it is and put it in the next game I'll probably never put it down...
