    The Conduit

Anyone remotely interested in this game? It's a FPS for the Wii that is actually supposed to be good. Apparently Gamestop will have a Limited Edition version which includes some extra goodies yet the game will still be $50.

I'll be picking it up. Anyone else?

Between this game, MadWorld and HotD:Overkill (which I just ordered from Amazon for $30) I might have a reason to turn on my Wii.

It's not revolutionary, but the Conduit is a great first-person shooter designed just for Wii owners. While the game does not turn the genre upside-down, it is innovative in certain areas -- for example, it features the most customizable, precise and enjoyable controls of any console shooter created, hands down. Meanwhile, the technology powering the experience is leaps and bounds ahead of most third- party offerings for Nintendo's system. Combined, you've got a game that controls flawlessly and looks great. If you're okay with a few presentational cliches -- a story involving aliens that seems played out -- and a shooting experience that rarely strays from straightforward running and gunning, you're probably going to love the end product. If, on the other hand, you own another system, nothing The Conduit offers, fantastic controls aside, will seem extraordinary. Supposing you are a single console owner, though, High Voltage's shooter not only delivers a fun single-player quest, but an engaging online mode that will keep you fragging complete with WiiSpeak support for months to come.

    8.0 Presentation
Variations of this storyline have been told a dozen times in shooters, but the presentation is still well done. Intriguing cut-scenes, great acting, and a variety of options make The Conduit pop.
    8.5 Graphics
The Conduit's art is sometimes outperformed by its tech, but the end experience is still visually pleasing. An outstanding 3D engine allows for graphical effects uncommon in most Wii games.
    8.0 Sound
Fantastic voice work, sound effects with genuine umph and catchy music. WiiSpeak sometimes drowns out the music and sound effects during online play.
    8.0 Gameplay
If we were just rating gameplay control, it'd be a perfect score. The Conduit is a fun first-person shooter, but beware: it's also a straightforward one. Run and gun, enemy spawners, and little else.
    9.0 Lasting Appeal
Between five and a half and eight hours for the single-player mode, which you can come back to for achievements. But the multiplayer mode will last months, if not longer.
    8.6
    Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I checked the reviews the other day and they were solid. I think IGN's is one of the highest though. Hopefully I can pick this up today.

And for those that are interested, which is doesn't seem like anyone really is, there is a 'Special Edition' at Gamestop which comes with a couple of bonuses and it costs the same as the standard edition at other stores.

I'd be down to give it a whirl online. are you going to buy this? or rent it?

I'll aim to rent it at the same time

I didn't get a chance to pick this up today. I hear it supports Wii Speak. Does anyone know what the deal with it is? I have to plead ignorance because I don't think I've ever seen it in a store or known of any other games that support it.

Obviously it's a way to communicate online, but is it an add-on or peripheral?

From what I gather, WiiSpeak is something that sits on your TV stand and lets you talk through it, think the type of thing you would use to make a conference call. It's an...add-on, I guess. I wouldn't use it though, too much going on in my house for something like that which would seem to pick up everything.

Have you gotten the game yet? How is it? I should get mine by Friday, I believe.
